hello, i've had my alienware 18 for around 3 years now, and i upgraded to win 10 when it came out, around 6 month ago it started refusing to switch to my dedicated gpu, giving me the 8 beeps, i disassembled my laptop and removed both gpus(780m's) and put them back again, and it worked fine until yesterday, where it crashed and switched into integrated graphics. the GFX press was not showing me the press yes to reboot screen so i just restored windows and reinstalled command center and OSD, and the binary press works however it took around 6-7 tries for the pc to switch to dedicated, and the screen just went black when the pc did automatic driver installation(could hear sounds and open things but the screen was black) and went back to integrated on reboot, and now every time i try to switch to the dedicated it gives me the 8 beep code again, going back into integrated on the next reboot any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

sad times, so would removing both cards and testing them individually to see if it's just the main that's busted be a good course of action until i can get around to replacing them?

Sure, I would do that and run a 3dmark11 assessment each time to make sure the GPU is being loaded properly

There may be a problem with the matrix? Rather with firmware matrix.

I had the Alienware 17, where it was 8 beeps.
Was spoiled by the firmware of the matrix.

The problem was resolved with a firmware EEPROM matrix with the help of a programmer device.
