    hi

    system specs
    alienware m18 r2
    vbios modded tech inferno
    i7 3630qm
    dell gtx 680m sli

before i start i must say i have been searching for quite a while now so i could get any answer or solution pertaining this problem and as a last resort i am here making this thread

... i have recently decided to update my display drivers from 355.98 to 358.50 everything is working fine or at least i thought it was ,,but as soon as i started playing witcher 3 the fps where horrid they were pretty low compared to what i use to get, on further inspection i diagnosed that sli is not working and the option for sli cannot be seen in the nvidia control panal as shown in the pic below ,,, i have even tried the 358.87 driver which has been recently released but still there is no go... i wanted to have the best possible experience for black ops 3 so i wanted those upgraded drivers .

sli option is back only if i revert the driver back to 355.98 or previous drivers .. really appreciate if anyone is able to help me out

    things i tried yet
    1. clean install the drivers
    2.ddu nvidia uninstall driver utility
    3. checked the sli cable looks like everything is in its place
    thanks

That's really odd. Since it works with 355.98, it's probably some sort of a driver issue, although it could also be some sort of card mismatch, wonky SLi cable or even a defective or dying card (not that likely, but it could be).

Did you make sure to install the mobile drivers and not the desktop ones?

In Windows device manager, do both cards show as having the same drivers installed and/or has one of the cards an exclamation mark besides it?

What you could also try is to install 355.98 and then install the latest drivers on top of it without using DDU or the clean install option and see if that helps.

Do both video cards have the same BIOS installed? If not, try flashing both with the same one.

If the two cards are from different manufacturers or even the same manufacturer but different batches with different components used, you might want to try swapping the primary and secondary card around and see if that helps. SLi technology can be picky in such cases.

You might also want to head over to geforce.com and ask Nvidia for advice on their forums there. It could very well be that the latest batch of drivers broke something for older cards, we've sadly seen it happen with Nvidia's Desktop drivers a couple of times this past year.

    thanks for your reply

yes i installed the mobile drivers not the desktop ones..
both cards show without exclamation mark
already tried express installing drivers over 355.98 but to no vail
yes both cards have the same modified vbois from from slv7 ,, tried reverting it back to stock as well but it didn't help.
both cards are stock dell cards not msi or clevo and factory fitted (swapping i didnt tried feeling reluctant towards it, its a lot of work and i don't want to mess up coollab ultra liquid)
already tried heading over the geforce.com forums they didnt even reply to my thread after 2 weeks and i am bumping frequently.
