I know throttle stop is the go to program recommended by everyone here. I myself admit I am afraid to mess with it because i am unsure of most of the settings. So usually i end up copying Mr. fox's post or others who post pictures of their settings. This usually ends badly because as we know all of our chips are different.
Anyway , my question is when you disable intel speedstep in the bios, will your CPU cores run at their maximum settings?
I was under the impression a couple years back that when overclocking we were supposed to disable speedstep, and any other type of power saving/throttling settings. I googled it and its page after page of people arguing. lol. so I figured i'd ask here, since personally i feel our members really have a handle on overclocking and how to do it properly. I know its a silly question, but i was curious about it because speedstep not only lowers the clock speed, but it adjusts voltages as as well. I'm wondering if this could cause BSOD's or other errors. Especially for some of you guys like Mr. Fox who fine tune every setting, where as I pretty much only adjust the voltage and mulitpliers and thus, the reason I can never get my computer to run correctly. lol.
As I have said in the past, I got spoiled with my first overclocking CPU a awesome i7 990X. To this day I still feel its the best processor I ever owned.
