I have just purchased an used SSD (Crucial M500 480gb) in order to store my games library
Strange thing is that I only got a sata2 speed on it (~275 MB/s Read) although I plug it in the Sata3 cable (slot1)
The SSD is recognized as full sata3 connection (6gb/s) via crystal disk info or intel RST, however it only get sata2 speed when benching
Not a big deal since I only use it for game but weird af!

/ah fyi for years I have run both 840pro and a SATA3 HDD (HGST 2tb) in full sata3 speed with slot 0 and 1, when I plug the new m500 in I move the HDD to slot2 and leave slot 1 for the it, make sense right? so how the hell the M500 only run with sata2 speed? I even update the firmware to the newest one (MU05). Any help?

Double check the ribbon cable connection at the motherboard. It probably is not fitting snuggly. If it is out of place just a tiny bit it can cause that.

If that does not help, be sure that Intel LPM is disable because that silly feature can cripple SATA speeds to save power.

OK, time to break out the big guns then. This has always worked for me when everything else failed. If it does not work, your SATA interposer cable or the SSD has a problem and need to be replaced.

Unzip the attached files and merge them with your registry. I had to do this registry tweak to get my Crucial SSDs to run at 6.0GB/s in the M18xR1, so maybe it is a Crucial SSD bug. After merging them .REG files, shut down, do a power drain, then cold boot.
