help change AW18 to Radeon?

Hi guys,

So I just picked up an AW18 with 2x gtx780m's, but I'm a linux enthusiast and would like to convert to AMD/Radeon. I'm really fine with a single card and in SG mode (DRI_PRIME=1) when using Radeon GPU. I'm open to all suggestions but here are my basic questions:

What is considered the best AMD mxm 3.0b card out there?

Is it the WX7100?

Where is the cheapest one available... from a reputable source?

Can anyone tell me if the 100W heatsink can keep up with a 130W WX7100 or would I be better if with a 100W Rx 480?

As for compatibility, you may need to saw off parts of the radiator, but as for the 130w TDP, it will work without any problems, my msi 1070 eats away at least, well, in any case, you will need a BIOS mod to run the card in Sg mode.

I hope to keep the radiator/heat exchanger/fins the same by using a mxm 3.0b AMD card, but I think I might have to modify (grind) the heat-sink itself to get it to sit flush or find a AMD heatsink.

I already did a modded bios to A12, there's an A14 too that I haven't tried.

I am a little slow on biting the bullet, I found a cheaper RX 480 (4GB model) and a WX7100 which is a little more pricey.

 

( out of topic ) keep your unlocked A12. A14 and A15 had been reported to significantly reduce cpu performance
