Per the title. My understanding is some older controllers dont pass the trim command to the SSD's if they are in RAID configuration.

Is that an issue for the Alienware M18x R2?

One last one, which I know is a stupid question, but is there a way to convert the msata 2.0 to msata 3.0 ?

And even that ONE middle drive in the 3 drive stack thats sata 2.0 when the others above and below it are 3.0? (no way to get them all 3.0 right)

    Thanks!

If you're using the unlocked bios AO5 and Intel RST it will do trimming in raid 0.

Unfortunately you can't change the Sata 2 ports to Sata 3.

Best option is off the ODD (also Sata 2), Wack a HDD in raid 0 with the another HDD (middle of the caddy) then use the mSata to SSD cache accelerate the array in Intel RST.

    That setup is rather potent.

what is ODD? Also my msata is a 128gb ssd, so its more then a cache drive, so only it and the middle hard drive are my issue as they are sata 2.0 :( Seems so pointless.

I found an old benchmark of 2 x HDD (Sata 2) + SSD acceleration.

I'd used 2 x 2tb Samsung Spinpoint drives. 4tb at those speeds is hard to pass up..
