Ok gents, I am still unclear as to how to make it permanent. I figure, after all, if I'm gonna overclock it, keep it that way. Right?

if youre going to keep it OC'd you have to have th.29 bios installed just click save to bios and it will boot up at the FSB you set it too. as far as the multiplier you can change it at all without an extreme cpu which the q9000 isnt. you will be able to adjust iin the bios & xtu btu it wont apply beacuse its locked in the cpu. you can only adjust the FSB, but thats all you really need. i wouldnt go higher than 2.4 with the q9000. its very simple with xtu that's why its such a great program.

Not bad, I'm now running on zfactor's .29 BIOS, and using the Intel XTU to overclock.

Running stable at 2.40GHz. Odd thing is I've set the voltage to 1.1375V in the XTU, but CPU-Z is reporting 1.163V.

I'm slightly worried about my northbridge temperature though. The CPU is peaking at 87C after 5 minutes of OCCT, maximum load, which I believe is safe. However the northbridge is peaking at 93C, and that's after just 5 minutes. Is THAT safe? (This is on a flat surface, back not raised, though.)

It appears the voltage setting isn't working. :( That's really annoying.

EDIT: Ugh, I'm getting serious stuttering in Bad Company 2 no matter what my settings are. It's really annoying me now. I'm sure I could fix it with voltage, but it won't change.

Another EDIT: *sigh* I'm switching back to B14. Again. The .29 BIOS just refuses to stop my machine stuttering all over the bloody place. I can't stop it.

the xtu service it self is the source of the stutering you have to kill it in the task manager and go to service manager to prevent it from runing or it will cause more stutering

i was also having a trouble with it

also the voltage is setting the max voltage the cpu will takes what it need the normal max is 1.1625 si if it's 1.163 it's adrealy more

also what version of the XTU do you have mine is quite old like 1.15 i think i read somewhere that there was a vers 3.some out

I kept killing the XTU service and it did no difference at all to the stuttering.

As for the voltage, it's funny that I was setting the voltage BELOW what it was actually taking. It shouldn't have been taking more.

Can you use a combination of RMClock & XTU? RMClock for under or over volting, while XTU is for overclocking.

I have modified the zfactor's .29 BIOS with extra menu in BIOS with Alienware logo splash screen. Anyone interested? :)

I noticed that zfactor's .28 & .29 BIOS are based on OCZ BIOS but I only found .28 at OCZ website. Where can I find the original OCZ .29 BIOS?

we can use the XTU with the ocz ones and zfactor's one and not with the b14 i haven't tested RM clock yet

the original .29 is from xotic pc

thanks for your mod i still haven't found how to do the crisis recovery with the m17 yet (it might require a usb flopy drive wich i don't have)

If I remember correctly, the .29 BIOS was purely custom by zfactor and was just an updated .28 with tweaked settings. So there was no .29 OCZ BIOS.

Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong.

you can use XTU to raise & lower the voltage if your using either zfactors .29 or .28 bios. theirs no need for rm clock.

I understand there is stuttering issue with combination of non-extreme CPU & zfactors' BIOS. So, the solution not always works 100% for all people.

AFIAK this is 100% correct. he tweaked the .28 bios and then created the .29

i never had an issue, i was able to volt mod the hell out of my m17 using xtu & .29 i have one here but its promised to someone so id rather not go on a testing spree but im tempted. but you can also use throttle stop to adjust alot of things you should try that.

I have a request. Can anyone who use zfactor's .29 BIOS give me the DSDT & SSDTs table? You can dump it using Everest. Thank you very much. :)

This is how to obtain it:-
    1) Open Everest
    2) At the status bar, at the bottom of Everest window (where you can see "Copyright....Lavalys"), right-click & click ACPI Tool
    3) At ACPI Tool window, click Save Table & you'll be presented with a list of tables
    4) Save DSDT & all SSDTs tables

I see. Looks like only Everest with full license can dump DSDT & SSDT tables. :) I'll let you know if I found alternatives for dumping the DSDT & SSDT tables in windows. Thank you for your help. :)
