You are bonkers. No one made a case against the second generation M17X, which is a fabulous gaming laptop. It is a tier above the M15X in because it was intended so. All I was articulating is that the newer M15X despite still being flawed was much better designed than the old area-51. It is still a worthwhile investment (if the price is right) and is still competitive in the benchmarks in it's group with an extreme CPU. Lets face it for gaming the R3 isn't much better at the moment with a 460m in it and will lag being an 920xm m15x. The 6970m will change that. Still, I think you are taking the area-51 bashing to heart too much, alienware made some big mistakes in the past with the area-51 systems that they thankfully fixed. All of the later models seem robust with great cooling systems not just a hot meteorite with fancy lights. As long as you don't mind the premium you can't go wrong with the latter alienware models these days. You can probably get an excellent deal in the US. iMpathetic enjoy whatever alienware system you get :)

I would put in that the m15x worked very well for my wife as her notebook in grad school. We opted for the lower-spec GPU (8600) and put more into the CPU for doing database work. The real incentive at the time was the second battery...she could get 4-5 hours in class. And after nearly three years, there has been no sign of hinge problems (but that's just luck...you never know when it will hit).

Consider yourself lucky. My area-51 m15x came with an already broken hinge. I got it replaced, and a couple of days later, the hinges broke again (both this time).

    Hey darkloki,
just wondering if you're still willing to sell your m15x?
That is, if no one else is in line. :)
