It's fairly popular over here so if you ever need anything, I can just ship you blu-ray stuff-- or you can just buy some for yourself whenever you visit the States. =P

Well thank you so much for this! I'm finally complete and almost everything seems to be working. Just one thing is boggling me. My touch pad.

Before installation it would shut off (the led and the pad itself) when I plugged in my usb mouse... however now it doesn't. Also, the FN+f12 combo does nothing either. It just pops up the msg touchpad off. Regardless of the message the touchpad still works and greatly interferes with my typing :( Any ideas anyone?

That is a known issue and it may be just coincidence if that worked on your stock installation. You need to go to Control Panel->Mouse->Device Settings to disable the touch pad. This is also documented under 'My Hive', next to Touchpad driver.

Well it seems Alienware has worked on the issue. I uninstalled the downloaded Synaptic touch pad drivers and installed the ones from their support CD.. and WAH LA!

Once again findvikas thank you very much! *goes to vote*

Ya it does and all the touchpad festures actually work... however theres no fancy add ins (like the feature that stops the pointer moving when you brush it etc...)

Think thats the only 64bit thing on the disk though :)
But i'm using it anyways as all the other, newer drivers keep the touchpad on even if a mouse is connected, annoyingly! ):

    question:
if i understoot it properly if you have a key for 32 bit vista ultimate it's also valid for 64 bit vista.
i also read(have been told) when you own a OEM windows vista you always have 2 request a new disk at the suplier you got it from.

now my question is can i order one @ AW or how else should i get the oem version ?? or would the key just work with a full version disk?

You can use the same key for 32bit or 64bit, and it will work on same variant of Vista. Home Premium 32bit will work with Home premium 64bit only and so on.

Yes using OEM keys you cannot order the media from Microsoft, it has to be your OEM to provide you with a 64bit media. AFAIK, AW does not provide 64bit media for m15x.

Key may or may not work, but will not be legal at all if you use OEM key with retail or some other type of distribution. I see your only option left to buy a retail version of the same.

    EDIT:
So I am purchasing 4gb of RAM and VISTA Home Premium 64bit tonight

    should I dual boot?

If you are not confident then, create first 2 partitions for OS. The very first partition install 64bit and second partition 32bit... if you feel like not using 32bit anymore and feel confident that you can live with 64bit... just delete the 32bit partition later and reclaim the space.

well, I've had an interesting breakthrough.

in the INF for the synaptics touchpad software from the CD, I've noticed a few lines near the bottom that are very likely related to that nifty checkbox to disable the internal PD if an external one is attached.... It looks like just a registry change, so I'll do a little more digging (and testing) on my machine before I get too excited.

I bet alienware is using findvikas's guide!!!! lolol

either way, even if they did come out with 64bit...way to go findvikas, you are still my favorite...and i think you probably give better customer support than alienware does :O

WAIT, i have not checked yet, but if AW is doing 64bit for the m15x, than does that mean i can call them up and they can send me a copy???

Does the key of Vista Home Premium EN 32bit will work with Vista Home Premium PL 64bit?Key from 32bit works with OS 64bit but does it work only with the some language of Vista or any language?

You bet they did copy my idea. Wish I could sue them, but it was their IP.
They implemented it very same way as I patched couple of files and recompiled them in native 32bit mode. Then they remove signatures from their patched DLL so that can be used by 3rd patry applications.

I verified all that in their new command center. I do not care if they have a 64bit version or not.. I simply don't use their version which is big on size and still cant do as much as I am planning for ONE DAY. oh yeah... they have memory leak bugs as well which can lead to overheating and memory usage of over 1.5GB by AlienFusionController.exe

    well i have two questions...

    vikas...
    1) you think AW will give me 64bit OS, being that it is OEM and im not sure how the policy works for that...(the retail version gaurentees 32bit and 64bit but im not sure about the OEM)?

    2) What is the 'CC' (what does it stand for)?

    3) Are you saying that your 64bit things are better than AW?

    1) I am not aware of their corporate & consumer policies. Since Microsoft is in favor of 64bit OEM should not charge anything extra for 64bit edition since Microsoft does not charge, AFAIK

    2) CC = Command Center :)

    3) I was saying that people found my Color Wheel application better than the original Command Center (whether 32bit or 64bit)

See the link for my Color Wheel (very beta) in my signature (AlienFX Applications)

Yep... same edition key will work with same edition, 32 or 64 does not matter. But OEM will not work with release... even if it works that is not legal.

They have removed this command center due to couple of bugs they found lately. I guess it was rolled out by mistake to auto update.
