I just like the new look to windows 7 even if it's only minimal.
-
well looks were not the core area of concern with win7.. I can live with vista looks. performance is the key here. UAC can be better and more customized. there are tons of features and I cant wait for it to roll out. we have not even reached RC stage yet and its amazingly fast, ok not hijacking my own thread
-
Right, lets get back on topic. Sorry about that, but knowing that you are Microsoft employee I can't help but to talk about windows 7.
-
I'm looking forward to trying it. I'm not too sure what the original topic was, so I don't know where to start.
/un-hijack anyway. -
I'm vickys beta tester
-
hello I am a new user but i can not find alienFX i bought the chassis from ebay can u please help
-
What notebook did you get from ebay?
-
I was wondering if any one knows how to load Command Center on a non Alienware desktop. I have the Alienware 2.0 case with light board and AlienFx 1.5 software but it will not run on Vista 64. It looks like FindVikas figured it out for Command Center but I can't load that software because it errors out saying can only be installed on an Alienware Computer. I would appreciate any help there is out there.
THANKS -
i think the mobile CC only recognises mobile systems.
-
You can use ColorWheel Standalone version anyways on any system. Try it out to see if that works.
-
I tried the color wheel and it works but not all the lights work for a desktop.
Thanks -
I even tried the desktop version and I think there is something in the bios thatr shows it is an alienware computer but I dont know much about software and how to get around that.
-
Hey vikas, any updates?
-
Hi
One big question! Will it work on the m17? The keyboard has a rgb color system so I would say it can show all colors (BSoD makes the keyboard shine wite) ... so ... will this tool work on the m17 as well? (The head is blue or disabled but the keyboard colors could be chanced?)
"Programmer Question" ... Can I use Java to programm a tool like this?
THX for your answers!
Greetings
Julian -
You can try the same for m17, I am not sure but it should work partially if not fully.
Regarding programming in Java... ofcourse you can build up something similar in any language which can access USB Ports. AFAIK, Java does support or has some wrappers to do similar programming. -
-
Your programs, and all the features you wanted to implement...
-
How about fan control??
-
Not playing with my monster these days... I got an Dell Ultra Portable which I am carrying as traveling around the world. I have no ETA for any update.. sorry guys.
-
haha. Don't worry about it, findvikas. I'm lovin' my m15x just the way it is already. Is your Dell a netbook? I'm into netbooks nowadays.
-
-
Any plans for writing the color values to the keyboard bios? That would be the real kicker for finally tossing the CC out the window. Its kinda too bad that the colors get reset every time I reboot.
-
Hey Freeman...
No major change and all action items are still pending.
Just that I put up desktop support and removed all the patching of files and other pain points. Download it, extract it & run it... on desktop or laptop, It will work. -
Findvikas,
Do you think there is anyway around the facial recognition "Invalid License Key" that comes up if your machine is a member of a domain? Alien tells me that is why I keep running into this issue, and they have no plans to figure out why? My notebook must be a member of a Active Directory domain.
I have done everything else they told me to do, including the latest version. -
Having problems with this and Windows7.
I'm running it as administrator.
On hitting apply, I get this:
-
Hey findvikas. You know one feature I've really been missing lately from AuroraLightsFX? Profiles! I've developed a habit of changing the colors to certain presets depending on what I'm planning on doing with the machine. Any possibilities of adding this feature?
-
@Koshinn, Have you tried the latest build of standalone version?
@Fr33m4n, hmm it should not be too biggy. lets see how soon I can code it. -
-
Sluefoot26, I looked at the code but the fact that this error is coming from a native binary and not .NET binary I could not dig much as I do not have the debug symbols for their private binaries... I talk in very complex language sometimes
In short, I do not have code for their application and also discovered that this happed to me as well when I am joined to domain. Although it was a good attempt but I did not liked the AlienSense for many reasons and decided to move on from it. I said bye-bye to all alien softwares, except OSD -
-
-
hmm... let me try it quickly once again.
-
You were so right... I need a recompile... and I guess I will dump the dependency with Command Center DLL's this time which is making the it around 5MB while it could be just 300KB.
allow me some time... -
just tried downloading it. Isn't working for me either. ETA on newly compiled version?
-
-
-
has anyone tried the fx tool on the m17?
-
that would be, you know, pointless.
-
-
Aurora LightsFX was designed to change the colors for the lighting zones on the m15x and m17x. seeing how the m17 doesn't actually have such customisable lighting, it would be futile to install Aurora LightsFX.
-
-
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
I was under the impression that as Whizzo has already pointed out, the M17 can only choose a few coulours, not have different colours like my M17X can and the M15X can have. Surely a program that gives you more option if you run the AW FX lighting system, won't work on the M17... well, not as well (",)
Give it a try and see what you can do?
OB -
I said lets try.. just my nature that I never give up easily... lets try is better... isnt it ?

For developers interested in the source code, I have moved the project to

Works great, but found a bug.
Again, Win 7, build 7068, 64-bit.
While set to "monitor wallpaper" to change the lights based on wallpaper choice, I cannot set a new wallpaper.
I tried in Windows Photo Viewer and I get an error "This image can't be set as wallpaper. An internal error occurred."
I tried in MS Paint and the lights flickered and no error message appeared, but the wallpaper didn't change, nor did the lights.
I tried in Firefox and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, I haven't quite figured out why yet.
The base functionality is flawless, but the "monitor wallpaper" and "automatic colors based on wallpaper" are pretty buggy.
When running it but disabling monitor wallpaper, I'm able to change the wallpaper perfectly with firefox, but still not with windows photo viewer nor ms paint.
I'm not sure if these errors are from a 64-bit OS, from Windows 7, from a specific Windows 7 build, or repeatable on a completely different OS. -
oh I forgot to mention that I have explicitly took off the wallpaper thingy for time being as I am working on a better algo & I have also taken off dependency from .Net 3.5 libraries, this version works on .Net 2.0. The wallpaper feature was highly dependent on .net 3.5 libraries.
The reason why I choose to took off those dependencies is that I want to compile a similar version for Linux as well, where with the help of mono you could control the lights on linux as well.... thats a long way to go well. -
can you please create a bug/item/issue under this project...
http://AuroraLightsFX.codeplex.com - under "Issue Tracker", you need to create an account to do that
Thanks ! -

Alright... its out there...
Download and install this version once and it will automatically download & install the latest updates to the build.
Remove the old copy and install it from here
http://www.vikasverma.com/AuroraLightsFX/
I will later might move it to its own server -
Ooo an installer!
It worked once or twice, but same problems. I can't change my wallpaper while the program is running. Exactly the same errors as before.
