    Around 3.4Ghz.

The M17x w/4870s can hit 11k GPU stock.

The Intel XTU doesn't work for the M17x/M980NU but it should work for the W90.

It's time to go outside with it to help keep it cool. Maybe later on tonight. When I ran 3DMark06 it BSOD in the middle of the run but temps were around 70.

    Wow!
If only you could run all the benches (especially CineBenchR, 3Dmark06, SuperPi, Wprime and maybe Snadra) and post results.

Interesting idea, though it would probably work for half an hour and then slowly overheat the entire system. It requires a decent air flow and a bigger distance between components to allow for a better cooling.
But now I see why NB was overheating and some modding was necessary.

These were all meant to be done in conjunction with a Cryo or similar cooler

Without airflow they would not have ANY benefit whatsoever

adding all this stuff is generally for over clocking and benching purposes....if you bought the note book to play games and run it like a normal user....then none of this is necessary... :)

Well, I got pre/post holes in bottom cover (Wasn't smart enough to just leave it off.....lol) and with a Cryo.

This is after a few vantage runs (the max is the peak temp during the runs) the min is after letting it idle. This was with holes, cryo, and OCZ freeze as the TIM
    [IMG]

And here is a before and after with the holes, when I still had a P9500 in the whitebook:

I was talking about the little heat sinks attached to the heat pipes. I drilled holes in my bottom cover ages ago, before it was the cool thing to do. Somebody in the forum actually cussed me out, saying I was going to kill my warranty and stuff.

It's cool man. No worries. I think it would be interesting to have a thread that contained M17 FACTS. I.E., if you do THIS, you will lower your temps about THIS much. The X9100 scores THIS. The QX9300 scores THIS. The Q9000 scores THIS. Know what I mean? It would be an all-in-one for folks planning on buying new hardware or doing a mod. Just a pipe dream.

Mandrake that intel tuning tool, does that allow you to increase the multiplier of extreme cpu's outside of the bios?

Nice thread Mandrake! thanks for getting the M17 back on the front page of NBR.
I got my best benchmarks using Catalyst 9.9(all stock of course, no over-clocking....I dont mess with what I dont understand..lol)

Here are my stock benchmarks in .06 and temps using thermal tape.

Which is why people still post questions about the M9700, the M1710, E1705, and the E1505?

Yes, you can change the multiplier and voltage of the CPU, but it won't take effect until you reboot. The tool saves the info to the BIOS, so it's not something you have to run at every boot up.

Look the 1505 sold hundreds of thousands of systems

    the M17/whitebook sold thousands

Of those thousands most have been sold away or broke and since its no longer being sold the amount of people that actually have them is very low and then take into account the amount of people who got them that can actually benchmark ?

Yea .... no lookin so good

But my brother has one and i loved mine .... im not knocking anything .... it is just dead-ish..... it doesn't hang in the top anymore but its close :)

Yeah man, I am interested to see what you can achieve. I just replaced my 9300 with an X9100. Unfortunately, that takes me out of the benchmark competition. The stuttering was just more than I could handle.
