Around 3.4Ghz.
The M17x w/4870s can hit 11k GPU stock.
The Intel XTU doesn't work for the M17x/M980NU but it should work for the W90.

Wow!
If only you could run all the benches (especially CineBenchR, 3Dmark06, SuperPi, Wprime and maybe Snadra) and post results. -
I'm wondering if i would get better result runing a bench with a embian -6 temps .....

well here is everything I have to play around with for cooling:
And here is what can be done with all that, some ideas I had and some things other people actually did
The one at the end was my proposed plan of action before I just sold my whitebook. Still have all the sinks thoughClick to expand...
But now I see why NB was overheating and some modding was necessary. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
These were all meant to be done in conjunction with a Cryo or similar cooler
Without airflow they would not have ANY benefit whatsoever -
adding all this stuff is generally for over clocking and benching purposes....if you bought the note book to play games and run it like a normal user....then none of this is necessary...

well that goes without saying John...lol
Of course, crysis is more fun out in the 20 degree weather! Adds a new level of reality to it! -
The M17 likes overclocking
p8600 hits 3.3 in it but it is very unstable -
that wasn't for you scook...your a bencher...rotflamo!

Does anyone actually have any pre/post heat sink mod temperatures?

This is after a few vantage runs (the max is the peak temp during the runs) the min is after letting it idle. This was with holes, cryo, and OCZ freeze as the TIM
And here is a before and after with the holes, when I still had a P9500 in the whitebook:

I was talking about the little heat sinks attached to the heat pipes. I drilled holes in my bottom cover ages ago, before it was the cool thing to do. Somebody in the forum actually cussed me out, saying I was going to kill my warranty and stuff.

Cant say I have such pictures, never actually did my planned modifications. Sorry haha

It's cool man. No worries. I think it would be interesting to have a thread that contained M17 FACTS. I.E., if you do THIS, you will lower your temps about THIS much. The X9100 scores THIS. The QX9300 scores THIS. The Q9000 scores THIS. Know what I mean? It would be an all-in-one for folks planning on buying new hardware or doing a mod. Just a pipe dream.

for a dead system

Mandrake that intel tuning tool, does that allow you to increase the multiplier of extreme cpu's outside of the bios?
-
Nice thread Mandrake! thanks for getting the M17 back on the front page of NBR.
I got my best benchmarks using Catalyst 9.9(all stock of course, no over-clocking....I dont mess with what I dont understand..lol)
Here are my stock benchmarks in .06 and temps using thermal tape.Attached Files:

Look the 1505 sold hundreds of thousands of systems
the M17/whitebook sold thousands
Of those thousands most have been sold away or broke and since its no longer being sold the amount of people that actually have them is very low and then take into account the amount of people who got them that can actually benchmark ?
Yea .... no lookin so good
But my brother has one and i loved mine .... im not knocking anything .... it is just dead-ish..... it doesn't hang in the top anymore but its close -

yeah. it was a great notebook.
i also had one maxed out but without the 4850's. i jump ship before they came out. -
Can't wait for my 4850's to arrive
!

DHC, post your benchmark once it's arrived !

@Moo: I joined this forum right around the time you did last year. So I know you'll argue with me no matter what I say. Drop it. -

WIC benchmark on whitebook.
everything maxed out. stock gpu overclocked cpu.

I plan on an outdoor benchmarking session later tonight. Hope you guys will be around.

i'm always around lol

Yeah man, I am interested to see what you can achieve. I just replaced my 9300 with an X9100. Unfortunately, that takes me out of the benchmark competition. The stuttering was just more than I could handle.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
who cares. put it up anyways.
with the m17x, you don't need a quad to break 12k. -

They're on the 1st page. I don't know how to make the pictures very big though.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
how far can you push the x9100?
-
Still pushing here.

Holy something... of some ....place...
Mandrake, for the sake of all samurai died of seppuku PLEASE run something....3Dmark? Anything.... -
I'm trying to see how far I can OC. I want to hit 4Ghz!
-
Kamin_Majere =][= Ordo Hereticus
ummm... are you honestly running a qx9300 at 3.9gHz... i have no words to describe the sheer awesomeness of that.
Also could you shrink the pics... its causing some scrolling issues for some users -
OK here it is. I'm going to try a 5 minute stress test on it.

I appreciate it.
You now have 4gHz... its running stable and under a million degrees... i'm VERY impressed by the capabilities of this computer you have.
I now hate AW for using the nVidia chipset -
Do you follow the same steps as with M17X in OC'ing?
-
4 minutes into the stress test the CPU temps maxed at 75C. Average is around 70.

What cooling do you use? a fridge?
-
I now know why there was that person who hit 20K in 3dmark06. Better GPUs I bet I can do it with the M17.
