I apologize for any spelling mistakes, i am dyslexic

Ok guys, I am having some serious problems with this laptop, and tbh, ive been having problems since day 1.

But now to the current problem, it's a power issue, ok so one day my laptop randomely turned off, i had no idea why. So i powered it back on, it was on charge while all this happened, and the alien head was solid blue (fully charged). It would occasionaly flick to solid yellow (on battery), but only for about 1 second. Then, after about 5 yellow flickers, it instantly powers off. So, i tried to see how it would react when not charged, and its simply did the flashing yellow light (out of battery), when the battery was fully charged, and then powered down.

Using it is a serious gamble now, and when i see the yellow light flicker i immideatly have to save all my work and sometimes i try to shut it down and beat it before it inevitably turns off.

So, after this happening about 10 times a day, the poor thing got so confused, and kept coming up with all times of error messages, e.g, your c: drive is corrupted, windows could not startup, etc. Eventually, I THINK it found the problem, and this has only happened once. It displayed and error message upon start up saying something like:

Warning! Your dell (something)v charger is not recomended for your computer (or something like that.) it is reccomended that you use a (something)v charger instead.

    Press f1 to continue

If this is true, im guessing it has damaged the battery or worse, the laptops power system itself. Im no good with computers though, so a little help would be appreciated. Another guess is that there is a loose connection between the laptop and the battery. (Obviously i cant access the battery without unscrewing anything so i wouldn't want to risk that since i only got the computer 3 months ago).

    Many thanks,
    Swannyy

    (EXTRA INFORMATION)
When i put the laptop on my lap or on my bed, this never, ever occurs. So it obviously likes to keep warm.

Also, this problem tends to happen more when i move the laptop whilst it is powered on.

Well sadly that is really your only option.
Sounds like it needs a good and solid RMA.

It's your choice. Live w/ defective product, and make it worst than it is, or go thru the tech support like everyone else.

If you have access to another computer use chat or email, Its easier to understand what is written. I too sometimes have problems understanding their reps, my last support question was by chat and it worked.

Ya, you better call tech support.
They will either send someone over, or you could ask for a replacement.

I've seen a couple people on the NB Forums who have complained of random shut down or lock ups on the M11x. If you are overclocked, turn it off and see if it still happens. If it occurs when not overclocked, run the diagnostics (F12 at boot) to see if you have a HDD, processor or memory related failure. If not, you likely have something going on with your motherboard. The error message about the AC adapter could be the adapter itself or could be related to the motherboard issue. This is definitely not a common problem. Please call support and they will get you taken care of.

Thanks and apologies for the issues with your new system!

If you don't know how to overclock then it's pretty safe to say that yours isn't. It's a setting the the BIOS that's off by default.

Reboot and when you see the alien head hit F12. Make sure you're plugged in and choose Diagnostics. It will run some basic tests for about 5-10 minutes. I'm pretty sure the more memory you have the longer it will take. If it doesn't find anything then it will ask if you'd like to run the remaining memory tests. Choose Yes and let it run. It'll probably take a long time to complete. I have no idea if there's a log file with all of the test results, but there should be. Ask later if you need help find that.

im sorry you are having so many issues with your M11X. I have my M11x R2 and i have absolutely no problems with it. I hope you will consider getting your laptop replaced instead of asking for a refund. i would really recommend this laptop but i dont know why some people just gets unlucky. ;)

Yeah my whole family have said, refund and upgrade your desktop pc with the money, but im just gonna get it replaced :)

Ok people, i have run all the tests on it, it took about 4238502439 hours, but their done, and they found nothing. No problems with the battery, etc. It must be a motherboard issue.

I am now backing it up, once done I will be reformatting it and calling dell! :)
