I finally decided I was going to go with a core 2 duo model of the m11x because the 600 dollar pricetag was more than affordable, it was there last week and said it went on until the end of the year - but I go to purchase it and they only give me the option to buy i5/i7 m11x r3s.
Does anyone know whether or not its discontinued? Am I stuck with ebay if I want a c2d m11x?
-
I believe in most countrys the c2d has been discontinued.
-
You can still find it at various etailers and some stores, but hard to find any more. Unfortunately places will probably start to you for pricing, even Dell is selling their refurbs for what were previously at new pricing.
-
how much is the r3 then?
save up a month or two more- its worth it -
its 999$ stock
-
ok i spent alot of money on one just now in the uk , its a nice unit and plays games close to the quality of my envy 17 (but it is a i7 2g gpu 6g ram one).
on the other hand if you think about the price of a netbook , the r1 is soo worth it. -
You sometimes have to keep checking randomly, like every 6 hours. Cause last night i saw the M11X refurb for $509. Now its not on the website. But a day before i saw the $509 and $599 R1. More like a first come first serve.
-
I just ordered the R1 on the UK site. £523 with 640GB hard drive. Seems strange that it isn't available everywhere when it is probably made in the same factory.
-
Wait til July-August. They will probably slap a $200 rebate on top of the R3 as a back to school special.
-
im watching how much R1s are going for on ebay...
600-800 for used w/o warranty. its kinda of crazy. -
I sold my R1 - shoulda sold it on eBay. Jeez.
I hate dealing w/ ebay/paypal monopoly though. So craigslist it was.
Loving this R3 - but had no complaints about the R1. -
Maybe now would be a good time to sell my M11x with the new 2GHz mod (thank you "some guy"
) for $800.
Those prices are kinda crazy though considering you can buy a new R3 for $999 that peforms stock better than the R1, and there's sure to be even a $50-$100 coupon lurking around frequently. -
you welcome.
yea no joke. if my R1 was my main PC i would trade up right now for sure.
but for me right now im not looking to jump ship. my R1 is still a lil beast and i normally dont early adopt. -
Yeah, well I'm looking at selling my beastly NP8170 with i7-2720QM and GTX 485m, selling my Dell Mini, and contemplating selling my M11x, and buying a Shuttle small form factor desktop with i5-2500K quad and GTX 570 GPU along with a powerful 14" or 15" with GTX 460m or 560m.
But for a few weeks this M11x will be my primary laptop while my 17" notebook is out for motherboard swap (Intel SATA recall). -
Honestly I think I will have to play the waiting game like you said - this semester I have but 800-900 dollars to put into a system, and I had planned on buying a r1 / refurb r2 and waiting until next semester to toss in a ram upgrade along with a ocz vertex 2 ssd.
But you're right, its probably more logical to wait for them to mark the r3s down some so I can have an i7 2617m with 2gb nvidia card along with an ssd all at once... instead of buying a less powerful machine and wishing I would have waited when they mark it down to the same price I'd be paying for.
Guess I'm stuck with my desktop until then :[ -
