Hello, ive been folloing this foroum along with posts at Laptopvideo2go and always managed to keep my drivers updated.

Anyway, i tried the method in the 260.99 thread and had some problems. I use an Alienware M11x R1. Every time i try i get major issues, either it wont install as my graphics card is not listed (incorrect inf) or it crashes on install.

I can't seem to find a 260.99 or later driver with an INF that WORKS with the alienware m11x R1. I don't use the Intel integrated graphics and i have it set to discrete on the bios. It's never used, and never will be. Im after some direction as to where i can get the CORRECT install for a 260.99 or later drive (thats good) with a modified INF.

    All help will be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Skidillydoo

I don't know of any myself....the one problem you may run into is the R1 requires a packaged driver that has both Intel and Nvidia in 1 driver to function 100% without the possibility of problems. Now if you want to run just the Nvidia card all the time I'm sure you can disable the Intel on the R1 through the bios and run just the Nvidia card with newer drivers but without doing that it's gonna be hard.

the intel drive IS disabled mate.
but every nvidia driver i download is not working. even when i select 335M GT. i dont know what to do. i live in sicily now and using a 3G dongle so my speed is limited and takes a while to download drivers.

its why it would be nice if somebody can point me in the right direction.

im currently using 260.69 i think. but i want newer drivers. either 260.99 or newer that will work with alienware m11x R1. modded inf files are welcome.

I've checked a few places that I know of on where to get modded .inf files, unless you can find someone that really knows what they're doing on modding them you're just going to have to wait if you can't get 260.99 to work, there hasn't been a single .inf file modded for mobility systems after 260.99. Sorry :(

Best place usually to get the latest standard drivers and modified INF is usually laptopvideo2go. Sometimes modified INFs can be found in the Guru3D forums also.

    1.) Go to LaptopVideo2Go.com
2.) Click Drivers at the top of the page. (brings you here)
3.) Find the drivers you want and click the link for the appropriate version. (my guess is 263.09 for Windows 7 64bit which leads you here)
4.) In some cases there will be a "Driver details are temporarily down until a fix is provided." error. Just click the link that says "Click here to download driver and INF files." below the error. (Brings you here.)
5.) At the bottom of the disclaimer you should see two links. One will be to download the driver package and the other will be to download the modified inf.
6.) Extract the driver package that was downloaded and copy the modified INF into the "Display.Driver" folder in the main driver folder.
7.) Go back to the root of the driver folder and run setup.exe to install them. (Note: Windows may give a warning message that it "can't verify the publisher" which can click "Install this driver anyway" to finish installing.)
    8.) Reboot and enjoy.

The Guru3d thread for 263.09 can be found here.

    Hope this helps.

I searched both of those places and couldn't find a modded .inf file for the 335m in anything beyond 260.99. Nautis from my understanding is one of the awesome modders over on laptopvideo2go.com ;)

Hey Nautis, thanks for the reply, i guess you got my message on LaptopVideo2Go, i already knew of the guru3D thread having been a member there since 2004.

Last question, will the drivers you linked here work on the alienware M11x R1?

Or better question can anybody confirm a working 263.09 on Alienware M11x? or issue a link to the 260.99 drivers and the working INF file.

As i mentioned before, im using the 260.69 drivers and although they have been ok, they seem to really be struggling with games which ive had no problems with in the past.

Oh an nautis, if you get a chance, where is this Pieters INF you speak of? Sorry if this is an obvious question, just really out of the know-how as i dont build computers anymore or regularly upgrade gfx cards.

This alienware seems to be more hassle than its worth. Troublesome drivers, and problems with the hinge.

    /sigh

    Thanks in advance.

Using the R1 with Hybrid Graphics (switching enabled) requires the nvidia and intel graphics drivers to be installed together in a single package. This driver package is usually pretty large and difficult to find. It is possible to build one yourself but is pretty complicated. The newest Hybrid Graphics package I know of for the R1 is released by RigelKent.

As for your question will 263.09 work on the R1? Technically it should. The problem is it would have to be installed in single GPU mode like you have yours (switched in the bios) and probably with the modified INF. If you want 263.09 to work with Hybrid Graphics (switching) enabled you would have to build your own Hybrid Graphics driver (complicated process).

Sorry, Pieter's INF is the modified one linked on laptopvideo2go. Believe it or not there is a single person who handles those INFs. :)

So really with the R1 your options are:
Latest Bleeding Edge Drivers/Semi Easy Install (may require a modified INF) = R1 with Hybrid Graphics disabled in the bios (single GPU) with any standard nvidia drivers (some require modified INF).
Newer Drivers/Complicated Install = RigelKent or my Hybrid Graphics driver packages (I don't have a new one "yet" for R1).
Old Drivers/Easiest Install = Alienware/Dell provided drivers found on the support site.

Ty once again Nautis, great explanation. Im gonna see if i can get the 263.09 to work tomorrow once they and the 260.99 are downloaded. Have a play around and hotswap the Pieters INF. hopefully i find some success.

Ever since i have installed these 260.69 drivers i suffered problems with frame rate issues in several games, since my factory re-install of my alienware they were the only drivers i had laying around.

I have downloaded both the driver and the INF that you linked earlier, im hoping i will gain some success with this. If not, im sure you will be hearing from me or i will drop a message to Rigelkent.

Thanks once again for your help.
