This worked for me nicely:

Haven't seen that "bad graphics" effect since. Can't say I felt any significant difference in battery life, but I have in terms of graphics.
Hope this helps.
P.S. This option "Power settings" is not available when you're connected to the external display (VGA).

i dont understand the term of bleak colors, can you describe it
-
Hah sorry I'm not a native speaker, that's the best word I could come up with.
Something like:
1 : exposed and barren and often windswept
2 : cold, raw <a bleak November evening>
3 a : lacking in warmth, life, or kindliness : grim b : not hopeful or encouraging : depressing <a bleak outlook> c : severely simple or austere
If you set it to "Best power settings" and unplug the AC power, that's the best way to see it. That I can think of now at least. Then if you look at the movie, it looks like the contrast is too high, as compared to nVidia card playback. -
Soleblaze made a color profile for our m11x here. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/479312-aw-m11x-monitor-icc-color-profiles-windows-linux.html#post6201202

This works great! Added to your rep.
Changed my NVidia setting too and my games look almost as good as my desktop (meaning my HP Desktop computer) display now.
Battery discharge rate only slightly affected. -
Thanks! I'm surprised, not many people notice this. I noticed it instantly when I tried to watch 720p video.
Btw, about color profiles - not sure how this will work if you use the same color profile for both cards - as the colors with default (Power Savings) look different on IGP than on nVidia... plus what's the point in making the color profile with already reduced graphic quality.
[fix] m11x - bleak colors on integrated graphics
