I've made the purchase for the R2 (waiting for delivery) but I have read complaints that it does not come with the 10/100/1000 ethernet configuration. Is this a legitimate issue/drawback that I should be concerned about? Sorry if this has been asked....I couldn't find anything on it...any insights would be appreciated...thanks

If you have a gigabit network and transfer large amounts of data between your systems frequently, then yes, it's a legitimate drawback.

It'll make a difference until he reaches the file transfer limit of his HD. In other words, not the 10x difference you would expect, more like 3x. Of course this is for a gigabit network, ie/not the internet. So no difference in internet transfer speed unless you live in Korea.

Thanks, that puts my mind at ease somewhat...I don't get why they didn't go ahead and take the step up to 1000 on the R2, but it sounds like it won't make all that much difference...at least for now...

It is, indeed, ridiculous to not have gigabit.
10/100 vs 10/100/1000
