    Hello all,

I am a new and proud owner of an M11XR2 and I'm fairly impressed with the performance I can get from such a small machine.

I have one question/concern though. When I run 3DMark2006 (with battery on high performance settings of course) on AC power I get a 3DMark2006 score of 7126. I think this is pretty normal and matches well with other people I have seen on these forums. My specs are i7, 4GB RAM and 256GB SSD hard drive, OC @ 164MHz and no OC for graphics card.

However, and a big one at that, is when I just unplug the adapter and leave everything else (high performance, etc.) the same, my score on 3DMark2006 falls down to 4284. All the settings in high peformance power setting are maxed out and absolutely the same for both on power and on battery. I have Intel SpeedStep disabled on BIOS so I don't think it's the CPU.

Thus my question is, is it normal to have such a big drop in performance when you go from AC power to battery and if not what can I do to increase my gaming performance on battery?

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Check your video drivers to make sure that they aren't dropping down to a energy saving mode when on battery.

Hmm OK, do you mean there is a separate setting I can access through my video drivers other than the "max performance" setting for the GPU on advanced power settings? How can I access that?

I don't have access to my M11 right now, but yes, max performance. Just a shot in the dark.

Ok, I will check it out when I get home. Anyone else out there who tried running 3dMark on/off battery? What kind of results are you guys getting?

u dont have to worry about that 3dmark score you are getting on battery dude. its not going to affect you gaming on battery i can almost guarantee that. only reason why you get less score on battery is only becuz of the power setting. thou on high performance profile, on battery and on ac actually have their individual sub profile within the main high performance profile which still tend to have some slight difference in settings to conserve power as much power during performance mode. go thru your alien fusion and you will notice that. i have game on battery hundreds of time already. and i can even game on power saving mode with games like ME2 for example without frame drop issue. when its not broken dont try fix it. its definitely fine for what it is with the original setting. there is no point to force your machine to use more unnecessary power where you gain 0 benefit but make your battery die faster
