    I just bought a used M11x and everything works pretty well. The only thing I noticed is that the ac adapter gets too hot (too hot to hold even)! Is this normal? Does anyone else get this issue?

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

    not really if under light use.
    check your adapter model number, should be FA065SLS1-01.

    If it's to the point where it's too hot to handle then no, that is not normal. Call Dell for a replacement.

    Just checked out mine and its hot, but not too hot to handle. I have my system plugged into the wall most of the time and hooked up to my 46 inch Bravia HDTV via hdmi. I would give Dell a call....

    Thank you for all your input. However, I just bought my M11X used and the seller did not furnish me with any receipt. He just told me to use the dell customer number underneath the laptop.

    Do you think Dell will still honor the warranty if I were not the original owner?

    do a warranty transfer on dell's website under the support section. make sure to submit the transfer webpage using the computer you want to make the transfer on.

    I had a few laptops in my life, 5 total, all 3 from different brands,and NONE had the AC adapter as hot as the M11x has it, it is REALLY HOT sometimes, not as hot that I cannot even grav it, but sometimes it scares me if I compared it to a Lenovo or Toshiba one.

    I've never had the AC adapter be over lukewarm. I hope this overheating isn't a bigger issue.

    My first post (and I hope it is helpful);
    My Inspiron 8100 had a power brick recall for this very reason. It may well be worth taking note of the 'too hot to handle' instances so we can track possible irregularities. Has anyone verified their home electrical system nominal voltage? Low voltages can produce more heat from xformers. I have consistent 121v and will post my brick temps as soon as my M11 arrives - 5/26 DD.

    Yes, this happen to my VAIO call dell up and ask for replacement right away. My adapter got hot then it started melting the tip then it weaken the port and now it's broken lol so replace asap before you damage your ports because the heat could melt it.

    I usually run mine on 240v since I live off generators, but mine gets pretty warm at times to. Most likely it would happen at max powerdraw like running an intense game such as crysis or benchmarking. Hmm, I wondered if it was normal, as I wouldn't expect a laptop of this size to generate that much heat on the power brick.

    Mine isn't hot enough not to touch but it does get fairly hot. I'm holding mine now and it's fairly hot, but my M11x has been on for almost an hour and I've been playing MW2 for 45mins of that hour.

    I just felt mine, it's honestly not even warm lol. Granted it's not doing anything intensive right now but still, it's quite cool to the touch.

    EDIT: my fiancee is on photoshop, does that count?
