Well, we all know that keyboard touches screen when laptop is closed. At first I didn't worry about it, cause keys are soft and I thought that the only thing they can is to stain the screen. But today I was cleaning it and realized that it covered with scratches. Part of the screen covered with vertical scratches.

I am very upset. I never keep laptop for a long time, I use it for 1 year and then sell it to buy a new one, so i use things carefully because any blot on the body leads to a reduction in cost.

I can compare this only with another idiotic decision, apple's glossy back plate of iphone and ipod touch, http://i26.tinypic.com/728tcm.jpg epic fail.

Call Dell, and see if they will replace it. It should be a lot easier to make your argument, if you happen to have an Advanced Protection plan on your laptop.

If it does get fixed, then use some kind of cloth between your screen and keyboard to prevent this in the future. I have owned many laptops with this kind of problem. Realistically, Dell/Alienware isn't going to redesign the laptop and give you a replacement unless there is a recall (which there will not be). And realistically, you won't sell your Alienware M11x and buy another laptop because of this problem. So, I say, spend the $15, and fix the problem yourself.

For a cloth, you could try the Razer Kabuto mousepad, especially if you wanted a mousepad anyway for an external mouse. I just got it like a week ago and it is the perfect size to fit in the m11x when closed.
