I called dell this morning to extend my warranty for another 2 years; surprisingly discover that the rep said a computer can still get extended warranty as long as the product is within 5 years of life-cycle.
She told me that all it needs is a re-certification fee of 49 dollars and with that, even if the system is out of standard 1 year warranty, extended warranty can still be purchased.
Any hear this be4?
I am not fully believe in this thing, what a "rep said"..LOL

I have not heard of that, but hey if I want the extended warranty and mine was past the 1 year I'd pay it and let Dell worry about it..

Has your initial one year warranty expired? If not, there shouldn't be any recertification fee. But be warned that the cost of Dell's extended warranty is marked up by about $100 if you get it after purchasing the laptop. Might be worth keeping an eye out for the next squaretrade discount.
