So, recentenly, I bought my m11x, I enjoy it, it's nice for a traveling IT worker such as myself and for games such as WoW or starcraft... (love Blizzard) Anywho, when I first got it, I decided to download Advanced SystemCare onto it, because I had it on my old toshiba and it seemed to help performance. However, from the day I got the PC I had issues (Always thought it was the PC... not SystemCare)
So yesterday, while doing dailies on WoW, the game suddenly froze, I expected this because the computer had been running a virus scan for the past hour or so, so I decided to restart the computer, and the same thing kept happening.

At this point, I was pretty mad. Especially when the BLUE SCREENS hit!
I was looking into it further and while trying to run things such as memory diagnostics and other windows tools, they would FAIL. Obviously at this point I was very concerned and didn't want to have to talk with Dell support, telling me to just restart the machine and it'll all be fine.

    My solution?
I reinstalled windows 7 and tested programs on the newly installed OS. They seemed to work fine, I then deleted this OS and rebooted onto my old OS, and the computer began freezing again. I did an AlienRespawn to the factory reset and DID NOT install SystemCare pro. The PC ran fine, and behold... Even windows tools were running fine!

    Conclusion:
This was either Advanced SystemCare Pro's fault, or the newest Nvidia driver's fault. I'm more likely leaning towards SystemCare's fault. I would stay away from this so called "tuning" program and go with AVG's tuneup program or Iolo System Mechanic 10. :D Windows 7 can also take care of itself, so maybe a tuning program may not be Necessary for the more advanced users.

This is just a warning to those who don't want to waste hours of troubleshooting and keep looking over the programs they feel are "Safe."

If you are a traveling IT worker why do you use these crapware programs anyway?

Soluto is all you need - www.soluto.com

I started using it while in college without looking to much into it and never had many problems with it until now. Now that I've taken a second look I realize that it was a bad choice. This was only to inform other users that SystemCare can cause serious problems, not to accept an insult for using said program.

No insult intended, I even suggested an alternative!

Apologies! But yes, pretty much all 'Improve performance' programs don't work and/or are full of crapware (Spyware/Adware). With the exception of a few...Soluto, CCleaner.

How about TuneUp Utilities? I've used it for 3 months and sometime my M11x locks-up completely. Now just you mention it, I got scared now. :(

No worries BuToNz, thanks. I realize this now, it never really occured to me that they'd be full of crapware, that was mistake number one!

And as to Tune Up, I'm not sure, I've heard okay things about it, but in all honesty, Windows 7 can maintain itself and clean up when needed in most cases. Not many things I even trust nowadays, I've been an AVG user for the past 3 or 4 years, and even now I'm second guessing their Virus protection, even though it's never failed me personally.

Yes... if your computer is old and has a lot of programs on it, I would indeed suggest Game Booster if you're no good at knowing what you need and what you don't need, But in a new computer, it really doesn't help much and actually didn't free up any RAM for me at all, and it seemed to make my games run slower by about 3 to 4 FPS.
