If this works in the R1, do you think I can put the i7 2677M to replace the i5 2467 in my R3.

I think +200mhz Base and +600mhz Turbo for both 1C and 2C may be worth it.

not a soul has tried it yet, compare how much power they consume, that way you'll at least know it wont make your m11x melt away. biggest issue that i see is the BIOS, if bios has the right code for it, it will work. if not you would have to mod your bios, but then again, it might still not work.

    No one knows really...

Baby steps, I will be doing this r1 first, if it works then I will buy a r3 board, do the swap then ship it off to some lucky r3 owner on this forum for testing :)

I would sudgest hermitmaster, you would be able to drive it to him, saving shipping costs if he agrees :)

Im sure he would have no problem with being my test mule, and only being 45 min away would be pretty easy for me to go install it, test it, and see what kind of advances we can get.

I'm game. It wouldn't be the first time I've taken it apart. :) I would expect the 2677m to be fairly expensive though (upwards of $350).

meh, cant make money without spending money right?

I will cover all costs of a new board, and cpu. then use you as a test subject if thats alright.

I run a BMW fabric company right now, and my stock of fabric is coming down to the last little bit... instead of making another $20k order to replenish my stock, I am going to move on into another field. Might invest in my own hot air chip soldering machine. They are around 5k, but I think I can cover that cost after a few months of modding.

Yeah thats my thought... the amount I could make just off xboxes should cover the cost of the machine after a bit.

Leaving work soon to get this cpu installed :)

Then I get to travel around for a bit collecting old computers and parts so I can build my nerdy coffee table.

    this is so awesome dude!

i may be interested as well in the CPU swap.

to be honest, i dont need the extra power right now but future proofing seems to be a good idea since the EOL of the M11x line.

not t get ahead of our selves.. but i cant wait to see the OC potential and battery life after teh swap! :)

I'd be interested as well. I took my laptop apart the other day to look into SLG mod. You all are freakin nuts. Those pins are way to freakin small for me to touch. There's no way I'm going to try and cut one or solder a transistor on. Props to you guys.

If you don't want a swap, or it doesn't work; I think that ejohnson and others on this forum do a pinmod for a small fee.

what i really want to try out is the 333Mhz pinmod on this setup.

2.66Ghz with almost identical heat load & battery life. :)

Yeah, I think just with their current workload, they dont have the time for a small custom project.

They are right on the edge of releasing a few of their own products... one of them I plan on buying... its a 30tb raid storage case. Uses a esata plug to give you a nice 30tb block :)

Also on my plate right now is building a water cooling system for my x51.. turning it into a mini ALX.

Project is on hold till november 3rd.

The company that I want to do it has a legal injunction on doing bga work, but its going to be lifted in november. I really want these guys to do the work since they are super nice, just like a mile away from me. And I got a tour of the place.

So till november, no real updates will be made.

In the mean time, I will be working on the carbon fiber shell, color changing alienhead, and the water cooling system for my x51.
Also building a rally car this summer, and having a baby in july... so very busy summer for me.

for us to have the table differencies
    Intel C2D SU7300 vs SU9600

    about the voltages:
    Voltage Intel C2D SU7300 vs SU9600
I tested and checked: both voltages are ok

until now I am pretty sure having the cpu vidmod and fsb to 333mhz makes stable both SU7300 [2.0Ghz] and SU9600 [2.67Ghz]

only one question remaining ! will the bios work ? [if not, it will require to update the cpuid codes]

From what I have found, the bios has the micro code to suport the su9600.
So, after this cpu is installed, once it is all running good I will be ordering another one to to install on another motherboard to pinmod.

Never actually gotten around to getting it back out to the company to have it done. Got new position at work, so more things to do there, usually finding my self staying late everyday. Then with the baby it gets hard to find time.
Hoping soon though I will get this done. I have the whole thing torn apart for the 12 inch ips screen, I should just drop it off soon.
