    Hi All,
    I have an m11x R2, not OC’d, 8 GB ram.

Wondering if someone can give me some advice on some services? I’ve got my system down to 45 process using Black Viper’s recommendations.

    Black Viper’s Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Service Configurations | Black Viper's Website | www.blackviper.com

There are a few processes that I can’t really figure out how to stop.

    1. hkcmd.exe

I gather this is for Intel Graphics Hot keys. Disabling hotkeys in the intel options does not stop it. I have disabled Human Interface Device Access (which I believe is associated with this process), but does not stop it from running at startup. Turned it off in msconfig, but no luck.

How do I stop this thing from loading?

    2. Stservices.exe

As I understand this is for Dell back up, but not too sure. Have stopped ThinkSoftAgent, which I have read is associated with this process, but no luck; it still runs at startup.

How do I stop this one?

One final query: should I stop SynTPEnh and SynTPHelper? Do these run the track pad? I only ever use a mouse and have the track pad disabled. I could envision the odd time where I am without a mouse, but that would be rare indeed.

    Thanks for the help!

alienowl, I own m11x r2 too, and I find no problems associated with your queries.
It would help a lot if you include your log file of services running, but for time being, suffice it to say that:
1.just install Ccleaner, uncheck the box for hkcommand.exe, should work like mine . but anyway, I succeeded disabling this from msconfig.

    2. I clean installed mine, so I cannot find stservices.exe in my services list. Have you try to right-click and disable the service from properties? If not, just uninstall dell datasafe/alienrespawn, it should work (NOTE: do uninstall DDS after you create your recovery media backup, it will reformat your drive to its original factory state)
    3. Don't, just go to CommandCenter, and check 'disable touchpad when external USB mouse is connected' (NOTE: only works with original touchpad driver, i.e. you haven't updated synaptics touchpad yet)

If I may ask, why are you disabling services you mentioned anyway? If system optimization is your goal, just do clean install (works for me)

Hope that helps... feel free to PM me regarding this post.

    Hi Dredd1893,

Thanks so much! I was able to turn off hkcmd and stservices using Ccleaner.

To answer: "why are you disabling services you mentioned anyway?"

Mainly for optimization and fun. It's a nice way to learn about all the various parts of my computer. I have been considering a clean install as I have had the system for about 8 months now. I have never done a clean install before, so I am going to read up on it first.

Can you please tell me how to create the log file of services running?

    thanks again for your help!

    +1 Rep :)

Oh, now I get it, can be addictive sometimes.. :D

to create log file the services, just use 'export button' (attached).
So, how many have your disabled safely?
