    Hi guys,

Ok so as of yesterday, I keep getting an error at startup of windows, or whenever I try to run the AlienwareAlienFXController.exe file, and it closes automatically within a few seconds.

The problem with this is; I cant use the hotkey to turn the lighting on / off.
The lights are still on, and I can configure them in the Command Center.

I sort of need to be able to do this to save battery (and sometimes its just not appropriate to have purple and yellow light out of your computer :p )

Ofcourse, I have tried a uninstall -> reboot -> ccleaner -> reboot -> reinstall. Twice.

    No luck there. Any suggestions?

Is a fresh install of windows 7 the way to go? I keep feeling like the preinstalled version is so slow, and that nothing seems to work like its supposed to, never any issues like this on my desktop.

( See attatched image to view the error message, I know its in Norwegian, but it says: " Alienware Alien FX Controller have stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution.." )

Just a suggestion...Try AlienFX Lite. May work as its completly independant from the command center. GL

Tried out AlienFX Lite, and that works, but the hotkeys dont, but as you can set it to turn lights off while on battery, its cool for now.

Seems abit odd that I should have to use third-party programs to have the lighting work like it should.

Maybe try a windows restore to a point before the problem started happening. Maybe something you recently installed or updated is interferring with the FX drivers
