Is there a way to have AlienFx lights change colour when the system switches from Intel to Nvida graphics? Would be espically handy, I'm finding a number of games I play aren't set up for Optimus, so it's nice to know when I'm playing that the choppy performance is due to Intel and not the actual gaming card.

That would be a great event trigger if it's possible. However, in the meantime you can use the Optimus GPU State Viewer that Nautis brought to our attention.

As far as I know, there is no way to have AlienFX display a different LED color on one or all zones based on GPU usage (integrated vs. discrete).

You could create a custom theme for each game to change LED colors for the zones which would activate once the game was launched. This is of course not what you are really asking for :(

Agreed with slickie - use the Optimus state viewer. Either way, you'll know when playing... ;)

Something like hwat the OP suggested would be awesome.. and i'm sure its something which is readily possible, considering we have third party add ons like winamp addons which can trigger color changes...

I'm just too much of an ignoramus to know how to do any of that... but plenty geniuses abound these forums.. hopefully one of them could mess around a bit with this idea.
