Hi there long story short, was wondering about the life of the LEDs inside our pretty gaming beast, not sure how the LED will hold out if enabled at long time, anyone can enlighten me? Plus frequent morphing of the lights, is it safe to do so? I tried googling around but don't see anyone discussing how and when will the LED snuff out.

Anyway in the event should the LED dies on me one day, where and how can i get it replaced?

Standard LED's have an average lifespan of 50 000 hrs.

Or 2083 days of running time 4-5 years if left on solid. Considering it will be long out of date by then and a new keyboard is only £20 or $40.

You really do not need to waste your life worrying fella ;)

Really if you want to get down to it, every component can be considered to be a "consumable" with a calculated lifespan. But if the lifespan is equal to or greater than that of your laptop, then why worry? Even if it dies after 2 years of heavy use, a replacement is no more than $50, or if you have warranty Dell will do it for you. Having said that though, i haven't heard of too many people who have needed a new keyboard from failures rather than spills/mishaps.

You got an Alienware for a reason, and the lights were a part of that, however small that part may have been. May as well use them aye? You can't say they aren't cool!
