    you wont get a speed increase unless you do heavy photo/video editing.
    pointless.

    I recently purchased a RAM upgrade for my r1. This is what I ordered Corsair 8GB(2x4) 1333mhz PC3-10666 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM vs the 1x2 that I have now. Since its PC3-10666 will it run fine on the r1?

    PC3 = DDR3
    10700 = 1333 (x8)
    667 = single mode of 1333 RAM (/2)

    Basically, from what I can understand, the M11x R1 can run RAM at 1066 or 1333 MHz but would clock it down to 800 MHz. The RAM you bought seems too fast to be understandable by your motherboard (bad RAM would've just kept beeping). Also, your CAS timings are a little too slow for what could've been with a cheaper, slower MHz RAM (The CL, represents wait time for the CPU).

    ive seen people talk about unlocking the bios to reveal extra clocking options. would i be able to manually limit the speed of the ram somehow for it to be recognized? is there no bios upgrade available? had a look around and the slow chips cost like fifty pounds (mine was 37...)...seems like kinda a waste for this PC...
