Under my laptop and on the bios-load screen, there is a Klipsch logo.
    What is this?

Klipsch is associated with the speakers.

well what do u expect... yeah they do the speakers, its like HP is trying to sell the ads for the laptops with some superb sound system by beats or something... just that alienware don't push the laptops as supreme to everything else in the sound field thx to Klipsch, just letting you know they're not some cheap chinese crap, instead branded product, which is made in china.

I suppose they are better than my other netbook's but its just so much you can stuff in there...

I can't help but grin a bit at that, not cheap chinese crap, but still made in china.. lol.

No offense to any chinese people who might be present of course. Just the phrasing feels ironic.

Still they are just tiny netbook speakers. as unatural says, there just isn't much room in there to work with. The speakers could be made from gold and they still wouldn't be worth much in terms of sound reproduction.

im sure it matters more for say m14x and up, which have 2.1 configuration(correct me if I'm wrong) say m17x probably has a fairly decent set of speakers. Though someone who owns one would give you more info, i believe quite a few members of the forum own both m11x and m15x or m17x etc. i am sure they could give a better comparison

For how small this thing is, I have to admit the speakers sound quite nice. They also sound a bit better than my R1 did.

i've probably just been spoiled. I always hook my computer up to a full blown receiver/speaker set when at home. So when I have to go with the built-in sound the quality feels really poor in comparison.

any notebooks speakers would feel poor in comparison to proper surround system at home... At least m11x has 5.1 sound card to use it :D

    Solution:

Buy 3 pairs of Razer Ferox speakers.
Hook all 3 pairs up into the 5.1 jacks
    Place them around computer
    Mobile surround :)

If the speaker quality (although better than most) bothers you get this: Aliph Jawbone Jambox Black Diamond Portable speaker. It is expensiveish, but its the best speaker system i've ever had, and tis very portable... you just have to have bluetooth in your laptop. I've been on the road where all I need was my M11x, a mouse, and The Jambox to fill the hotel room with awesome gaming sound.

oh no no! it doesn't bother me :p I was just saying that it isn't up to the quality I am used to. But nothing in this size format could be. So I totally understand and accept it in its current state. I'm sure alienware did the best they could under the circumstances. They got a decent name speaker to put in there. I personally had never heard of Klipsch before, but they seem to work ok for what they are.

Those are some fancy tiny speakers you linked though !

i had bad experience with bluetooth stereo audio... A2DP or w/e the technology is called for stereo audio via bluetooth... while it works great most the time, but even however close the 2 devices are, sometimes i get these cut-out lags of 1/2second or so ever so often... had same issues with phones and various bluetooth devices and laptops... maybe cause i listen to .FLAC or fairly high quality mp3s, not sure...

Klipsch is an amazing brand, at least it used to be. Prior to them breaking, I rocked the klipsch promedia 4.1's on my pc for many, many years. The sound quality was through the roof :)

While on topic of klipsch, i got some skullcandy earphones now, got em cheap, and to be honest they sound better than most in the price range, but they still sound like (excuse the expression) i used to have bluetooth headset from SonyEricsson, one of those bluetooth necklace affairs, while i didn't really like the design, the sound was amazing, felt like i was next to the base speaker in a club at max volume! Heart shaking :)

Was just curious, how do the Klipsch earphones fare in sound quality? they do look fancy and all, but looks are deceiving in the earphone market, and i can't exactly go *test* them all in a shop... So maybe someone owns a set and could share how good they actually are?
