I'm pretty sure that the R1's RAM only can do 800MHZ so anything faster than that would be downclocked to that speed and be a waste of money.

I bought the laptop version of that ram in 1600mhz and it downclocks and works great for me. Here's the link.

The memory should be 204pin Amazon.com. However I am not sure that R1 will guaranteed to work with 1600Mhz (PC3-12800). The PC3-10600 and PC3-8500 versions will work.

@IKAS V for that price it's cheaper than "regular"

    OK.
Haven't bought any new RAM in a while so wasn't sure how it's priced, anyway there is no need to get faster RAM than your laptop uses only to see it downclocked. That's all I was referring to :p

Depending on the RAM, usually downclocking will tighten up and lower the timings. So it's not completely useless.

In m11x timings are kind of fixed. So IKAS V is absolutely correct, for m11x there is no need of such RAM, even in case of overclock (hardmode) it won't necessary help. But again for that price, just buy a set, then if you decide to upgrade the rig, you will have a set of nice memory in hand.
