A while back I had called Dell for them to send out a technician to replace my laptop's screen (The hinge had broken, and as a result the screen stopped working) and my battery, which would not hold a charge. Upon him arriving, he replaced both the laptop's screen, and the battery like I had asked, but also my motherboard. When he was done, everything worked swimmingly...until I turned my laptop off, and then back on again. All of a sudden, it wouldn't turn on.
I called tech support and they wanted me to ship my laptop off, wait for a month, have my laptop's hard drive probably formatted, all to fix a problem that their guy caused. I said yes, because at that point I just wanted my laptop fixed.
I had remembered as I was watching the Dell Technician fix my laptop, he told me that a certain ribbon cable, if not plugged in, would cause my laptop to fail to turn on. I thought "Psshh, they're going to fix it anyway, why not just try and fix it myself?" So I open it up, and saw a ribbon cables clamp not actually clamped. I clamped the ribbon cable, and Lo and behold, the laptop turned on. I was ecstatic.
Here's my problem: My laptop's LED's weren't working. They had worked just fine long before the Tech showed up. But, when he fixed my laptop, he said "Oh, it'll be fine, it's probably a software issue. Just download the software, and you should be fine."
Well, it wasn't Non of my LED's are working. Not just the keyboard and front lights, but even the status lights, like in the eyes of the alien, my wi-fi indicator, none of them are working. So I was pissed, and called tech support. They wanted me to ship my laptop off to their warehouse, wait a month, and likely have my HDD formatted, just to fix the lights. I had told them how I fixed the laptop not turning on, and asked them just to tell me what cable it is that runs the lights, so I could fix it myself, but they said "We don't do repairs on laptops that small." Seems like a cop-out to me. So my question is:
Does anyone happen to know what cable is responsible for the Alienware m11x's lights? I wish to fix it myself, seeing as how that would be the easiest, fastest method.

if non of the lights are working, then it is a software issue...
each of the diffrent sections(keyboard/lcd/front panel/wifi/on-off) have their own cable... -
I see. Have you any Idea where to download the necessary software? It would be much appreciated.

try alienfx lite?

Try to download it here Drivers & Downloads - Public Sector

When I download Dell Driver Downloader, after adding the download to the download list, it tells me "There are no files to download. Please go to Drivers and Downloads to select file(s)." Even after they care added to the download list. :/

don't add it to the list, just click download....

If the status lights are not lighting up, something is seriously wrong with your system. Be sure you are not in 'Go Dark' mode with status zones turned off. Confirm by right clicking on the Alien Head (AlienFX Controller) in your notification bar (next to the clock).
If not in 'Go Dark', contact support. Something is wrong with the board.
