    Hello there! Does anyone know if there's a good (less expensive?) alternative to the Razer Orochi? It's a nice looking mouse, but the microsleep issues and the price are putting me off a bit. (Though I'm not sure if firmware updates have fixed the microsleep or not.) I'm wanting to do a lot of gaming with it of course!

    Thanks!

    Is it corded only? I was hoping for something wireless to make it easier to handle.

    Yes it is, but it not even noticable with the short cable. Not very often is my mouse more the 20 inches from the laptop.

    Just in case you didn't already know, those micro sleeps are thanks to the wireless connection being bluetooth. There were some lengthy threads on this when the Orochi came out and I don't remember anyone mentioning a fix for that lag other than using the cord razer includes for game time (apparently razer doesn't consider it a wireless gaming mouse, but a corded gaming mouse with the convenience of going cordless if you need for time to time).

    So, if you do need a true wireless gaming mouse, make sure it uses a mini dongle or the like. I have the Mad Catz R.A.T. 9 cordless now and, although it has that big receiver, the mouse itself way makes up for it. If you can fit it into your budget, I suggest you check it out.

    Good luck!

    OP, that entirely depends on what is most important to you.

    What attracts you to the Orochi?

    Size?
    Performance?
    Bluetooth? (I sure hope not. As has been mentioned, bluetooth is NOT for gaming)

    There are other small mice out there, that are wireless, but don't have the performance.
    There are bigger mice out there with the performance, but not the small size.

    (As with most things, there are probably exceptions, the Roccat Pyra wireless comes to mind for small + wireless + performance)

    I ended up getting a Logitech Anywhere MX; it seemed to be a very good compromise between performance and price. It's *extremely* comfy on my large hand, I'm very surprised by that. It also can track on almost anything, which is a huge plus! Thanks for all your feedback everyone. :)

    But hard to find nowadays :(

    I use to have Deathadder 1600 ( died 8 month , double click issue) , Orochi ( died 2 days, won't charge ) , Copperhead ( died 2 years ) , Razer Naga , Naga epic and Imperator.

    The imperator is the best i tried imo ( but a bit fast 5600 dpi for such a small screen )

    I'm using the Logitech marathon. I can't stand claw gripping "notebook" size mice, so the marathon mouse seemed a perfect compromise between a full sized mouse (which isn't as portable) and a notebook mouse. Relatively good precision, relatively low price point ($50), and a few extra buttons for whatever. Insane battery life is an extra plus.

    I have the Orochi, works brilliantly, but after being screwed over by Razer's warranty system with my Orca headphones, I'm never going to buy another one of their products. My Logitech stuff is far more sturdy and dependable.

    The new Deathadder is easy to find ( 1600 DPI ... ) , but the 3500 version is hard yes. At least here in Europe ( FR )

    I just told you in my previous post about mices ... i still buy Razer products cause they feel way more confortable than other brand but hell , thoses products are sh**. I RMA 3 mouses , 2 keyboards, 1 360 gamepad, 1 N52TE ( belkin , but with razer ), and i may RMA a new mouse , and i may forget some as i'm a long date customer

    Simple, buy more than 20 Razer products, RMA half of them. Who said this brand was awesome ? Products are awesome, but the quality is probably worse than 3$ mouses. The only product that i'm 1000% satisfied with Razer is the Moray + i grabed during a special sale, 23€ for awesome earphones. The rest is just not solid, and overprice.

    I should open a website talking about my " Razer customer life " , it may prevent many people to buy them ... ( but my desktop still look like a Chrismas tree )

    Not to mention that Logitech has amazing customer service if something were to ever go wrong with the peripheral.

    Thank you :D

    You're lucky to live in the US , here Razer products are just like Alienware : overpriced. You may not know living in the US , but 100$ => 100€ for Razer, Alienware and gaming in general ... ( actual currency : 100$ = 69€ )

    For exemple , Naga epic is 129$, here 129€ => 189USD.

    The M11x for exemple was 749$ on dell when i bought it ( 527€ ) , and was sold here 999€ => 1418$

    This should be sticky everywhere over the internet for US people to understand where the words " Alienware is overpriced " come from. When you buy a 749$ laptop , here it's sold like 1418$. Pretty nice huh ?

    Next time i travel to the US => M18X :D ( the save is just HUGE, the only problem will be QWERTY keyboard i'm not really use to)

    When you factor in local income rates out of the US its even worse than just exchange rates in some cases.

    I find for light gaming BT is "ok" but can certainly see why folks wouldn't like it.
