Hey guys, I know I should probably search for an existing thread on this but I'm kinda in a rush. A friend of mine wants to sell me a slightly used Alienware TactX keyboard (apparently he got it with his Aurora desktop and never used it) and I'm curious to know if this would run on my M11x.

Does anyone here use the TactX keyboard and can give me an idea on how good it is? I haven't used a desktop keyboard in a while, but I need one for when I use my M11x on my external display.

Any advice is appreciated. Later guys/gals!

I was also considering getting the alienware keyboard, but in the end I decided to get a logitech g510 for these reasons.

I read the alienware needs two usb ports if you want lights, and the m11x doesn't have a lot of usb ports.
The g510 was 85$ and the tactx was like 92$ on dells sight at the time.
The 10% off coupon that came with my laptop didn't work for it despite it being in the coupon booklet.

It has a screen, on it which is cool, but the lights are very dim. Much dimmer then I would guess the alienware keyboard would be. I would say if you want a few more features, take a look at the g510. If you want flashy lights get the alienware (keep in mind for lights you need 2 usb plugged in). Plus the alienware would match.

youtube is very helpful in this respect.

just do a keyword search for tactx keyboard review on youtube.....

but bloosh pretty much summed up my feelings of the tactx with his(/her) concise post.

I use the tactx keyboard and mouse on mine. between the 2 I use up all 3 usb ports so I got a cheap 4 port hub from target and use that.

Keyboard works great, all the lights and everything work with the m11x. The only thing you will notice when using it is that on boot up the m11x will light up, but the keyboard and mouse dont light up till windows is loaded.

Using cheap plain K120 from Logitech. I dont have to worry about pressing too hard ;) I have a usb hub for stationary use.

The tactx looks nice but might be too large for my available space.

The tactx is pretty large, But you can take the palm rest off too, that makes it about 5-6 inches smaller.

i use a logitech g9x [same as tactx mouse pretty much] and g110 keyboard with my m11x on my 22'' lcd haha

works well, i like how the g110 just uses 1 usb port for power and gives me headphones/mic and 1 low power usb port

the g9x, i never leave my laptop without it, i love that thing
