Hey guys - Just curious if anyone has upgraded to this drive. I can likely get a 500GB 7200 RPM Drive for $65 if I really search but I'm curious if there is an downside to going with the hybrid. 250GB is not cutting it for me in my R1!

Lots of people here are using the XT. Plenty of threads on this here already, plus a very detailed and informative one in the Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades forum.

There is a significant difference between the Seagate Momentus 500GB 7200rpm drive (which is $65), and the Seagate Momentus XT 500GB 7200rpm (which is around $130).

The $65 non-XT version of the Seagate Momentus will not give you any performance benefit over what you're using now. However, the $130 Seagate Momentus XT will give you a nice bump in performance. It is a very popular drive among the NBF users, because of the balance between performance, capacity, and price that it has.
