From what i see, i can speak with them via email, but only on US site. And since i live in Russia (=Europe) no way for me to do this cause to get accesses to them i have to own a proper service tag (us one).

I just want to inform them on my problem with nvidia graphic, lines, which i described here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/478164-alienware-m11x-weird-graphics-problem.html

Cause from what i see, i'm not the only one with it. Minimum 5 other m11x owners have it.

Or, if anyone here have contacts, but don't want to share them, i can write an email and you will send it from my name...

Really don't know if one can get in touch with alienware engineers...

I would suggest contacting Brian from Alienware, his notebookreview handle is erawneila.

Is this even a problem? You talk about strange lines and pixel patterns but none of them are noticable to the naked eye unless magnified by 500%.. What possible reason are you trying following up on this non-issue? I don't know why this is eating away at you but i'm certainly not going to lose sleep over it.

I see them pretty clear with out any special movement. I see them on this forum, on dark colors, i see them on skies in games and etc. So its a problem for me.

Ah, in that case your actions are justified. Perhaps you should post on graphics card forums in the hope that a lurking expert reads your thread. You've probably tried updating the drivers so other than that i can't advise you.

Well, i'm not the only one with such issue, so i think that alienware should aware of this problem. If i install just nvidia drivers, from nvidia.com, everything is clear. So its definitely not a hardware issue. Just some strange behavior of hybrid one.

I will let our graphics engineers know about this, but I looked at your images and then tried the same thing on an M11x and several other non-M11x machines and a U2410 monitor (high end). I think a couple things are hapening here.

    1) I can reproduce the same issue exactly on the M11x. I don't notice a huge different between Intel and nVIDIA, although nVIDIA is worse.
    2) I can reproduce the same issue almost exactly on the M15x and M17x (not quite as obvious, but still there)
    3) I can reproduce the same issue to a lesser degree on the U2410.

Taking pictures with a camera is going to exaggerate the problem. The front panel on the seamless displays is going to exaggerate the problem. The U2410 isn't a high gloss display, quick is why I think it isn't as obvious.

I'll see what engineering thinks about it, but I'd guess this is going to be considered to be working as expected for the most part. It might be possible to tweak the video driver, but I'm not sure...

    Thanks.

Can you send me the link to the nvidia driver you are installing to correct the issue?

    Thx.

Vorob, for what its worth I saw the same lines on my R1 before I sent it back. It started to drive me nuts as I noticed it more and more, even in games. My crappy Acer 1410 never exhibited this screen "dithering" issue. I sent back my R1 for an R2 so I'm hoping that NVidia Optimus fixes this if it's a software problem.

My only problem is lines on nvidia. I see them only on hybrid driver and only on m11x display. If I connect m11x to my dell u2711, all is ok there.

    1) I can reproduce the same issue exactly on the M11x. I don't notice a huge different between Intel and nVIDIA, although nVIDIA is worse.

Like I said, there are systematical lines on nvidia and nothing like it on intel. That's the difference, that’s the only thing worries me.

    2) I can reproduce the same issue almost exactly on the M15x and M17x (not quite as obvious, but still there)

Do m15x, and 17 have hybrid graphics?

be possible to tweak the video driver, but I'm not sure...

Any news will be appreciated :)

Can you send me the link to the nvidia driver you are installing to correct the issue?

Really, it’s any non hybrid driver :) for example this one
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 197.16 WHQL

The graphics engineers reviewed the issue you report and don't see a problem, but I'll let them know that the non hybrid driver seems to resolve the issue for you.
