So if I am in my 21 day period, how much BS do I need to go through to get an exchange set up? I already am approved for an RMA but Dell/AW says I need to call this person to have it checked, then call these people to see if it can be approved and then one Dell Tech guy told me to just send it back and he would help me purchase a new one. So what's the deal in getting an exchange?

never tried it, but from experience with warranty etc. its more trouble than worth...

The deal is they don't want to deal with you, make you suffer as much as they can, until you either give up or don't feel like doing it anymore.

haven't done an exchange either, but i've read some crazy stories about terrible warranty service from dell. this includes repairs & exchanges. technicians damaging units during repair. people sending in their m11x for an exchange and receiving a refurb in poorer condition than the original purchase... but hey maybe dell has improved their services?

heck just to avoid warranty repair and the risk of some idiot damaging my r2 internally or cosmetically, i did my own DIY preventative repair on the hinges before they cracked.. (which shouldn't be an issue with the r3)

what's wrong with your r3 anyway if you don't mind me asking?

No matter what I have done to fix, I keep losing use of my USB 3 ports. Only a reboot will sometimes fix the issue. This is a 2.5 week old R3.

Have you tried disabling active suspend something something mode in your alienfusion?

Select your power setting do advanced settings go to USB and disable em dumb thing. Fixed it for me.

Yep! I did that like you told me earlier. It was working okay for part of the day then I came home, rebooted and got no mouse activity plus I got the host controller issue with the device. My R3 has now been shipped back to Dell for a full refund. Now I am trying to figure out if I should take another chance with the M11x or go for something else? I really wanted my R3 but I couldn't take a chance if my logic board was messed up.

From my experience, it is a better customer service if the CSR you talk to is from the Dell where you can get discounts with use of visa/mastercard or premier where they don't give you a hard time and they will even take back your stuff for full refund w/o restocking fee and free shipping label to you.

Now if you bought your Dell/Alienware from the regular site, then you have to deal with CSR's from Dell that are from India or other parts of the country where they will give you a hard time.

I say if you liked it enough go for another one. Just bad luck with the USB not working.

I had to send my first M11x back due to a dead pixel, they would not repair it so I said I didn't want it.

As soon as they had arranged the pick up I ordered a new one through the website. I was worried but all went smooth :D

Now it is a question just to make sure, but did you use same power plan (power saving/max performance etc.) for plugged in and battery? Cause if you use one plan while plugged in, it doesn't stay when you unplug your laptop. The alienfusion don't work that well in that sense, for me it just gets confused when i plug/unplug the laptop, so max performance all the way for me. You would need to disable the active suspend in both power plans, or use same one on grid and on battery.

Anyways, m11x is definitely worth it if you want gaming on the go.
