I just got Alienware m11x-R2 few days ago with the hope that i can boost fps up to 250 in COD4. However, reality is sad... after switch into high performance and overlock to 164mhz i launch the game, the optimal setting is 1024x768 with medium setting
i changed all settings to high (4xAA) at 1366x768 resolution
the fps i got when playing is 20~ @@

then i low all setting but still keep 1366x768 and then fps increase to 60~ which is playable but not smooth (even my old dell inspiron 1520 can get decent 125fps at medium setting)
    ....
    ....
i havent tried other games but kinda disappointed with this performance
    Any idea guys?

60 fps isn't smooth???? I have no problems with COD4 on my R1. Are you sure that you're using the discrete graphics. The gang here was mentioning whitelisting the game. Search for the post.

60 FPS is smooth on anything (unless your hitting low's below 30 or something?) Is that average? What low's are you getting? 60 FPS will always be super smooth, anymore then 60 and you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference visually. Why would you want 250 fps that's just insane #'s that your eye would never be able to tell the difference.

believe the human eye can't even tell the difference at 60 fps.

Your screen refresh rate is 60Hz, so anything over 60FPS is really worthless. One of the reasons people get "screen tearing"

    COD4 is in my whitelist
the default com_maxfps in game is 60
    but i change it into /com_maxfps 125
i dont know why but it is not smooth , alway lagg and unstable ( in 32/32 map fps ~ 30-60)
If i want fps increase to 125 , i have to change to 800x680 resolution and all low setting (AA off)
    258.96 driver i cannot install it ...

Unfortunately, this problem is not fixed yet. A lot of people are reporting this problem with BFBC2 too.
