I had my M11xr2 hooked up to my TV via HDMI. The power adapter was plugged in while I watched a full movie (the light was also blue so I know the outlet was working). After I finished the movie I unplugged the HDMI and then unplugged the power adapter. After the adapter unplug my M11x shut off. I pressed the battery button on the bottom panel and all the lights lit up. After a few presses of the alienhead power button finally the computer turned on. When it started up the windows battery indicator said full charge. Do I need a new battery?

I would say possibly just try a new battery, if you're under warrenty, Dell might send you a replacement battery. The battery itself might not be "bad" as in it can't hold a charge, but it may not switch power sources fast enough, such as between AC and battery power, for the laptop and therefore it shuts down.
