Check you're service browser filters for North America. If you have later drivers than 265.xx you cannot play in PunkBuster servers so change filters to Non-Punk servers. Once all filters are selected. REFRESH THE LIST. If that doesn't work I would suggest deleting Documents/BC2 folder and that will revert everything to default settings and repeat the process...

Reinstall the game. Don't just click NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT FINISH. I believe you have to click the option where it says to register the copy of BF to play online for the EA version.

As a suggestion. I would use Welcome to Steam to purchase games rather than EA Store... I've used steam since Half-Life: Counter-Strike version 1.3 It's by far the most reliable service for purchasing games, as well as exceptional technical support and deals.

Steam is a great site and product. It's so nice to have a one stop shop for our games and you can even create backups of your games on external drives.

I rather have the EA version. No need to run Steam in the background. I use Steam if I have no other choice for a game.

Steam only takes up around ~10K Memory. However if you enable GameOverlay (chat) it can take up a lot more...

I would say Xfire store is generally cheaper than steam and without the need to run the game through the program.
wen i bought bfbc2 it was $20 USD on Xfire and $70 USD on steam.
