I download it off of steam and when i hit play game a little picture that says mafia 2 appears and then goes away and nothing happens the game doesnt start up. Anyone else having this problem?
-
yeah I'm having the same problem using the M11x R2.
-
Same here. I am using the dell beta drivers, you guys?
-
me too latest dell drivers
-
ah this sucks anyone have a fix? I've been having a problem with bad company 2's punk buster and now this, worst luck ever lol
-
Your download may not have actually finished. Right click Mafia II in your Steam games list, go to properties, go to the Local Files tab, and click the Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.
-
Xia, can't tell from what you said if you have the game running properly or if you are just offering a possible solution.
-
I verified the file like you suggested and it did not help, thanks though.
One thing that was strange was when i tryed to add it to the white list in the Nvidia control panel, it showed up as "Tony Hawk:American wasteland" but it has the "II" symbol from mafia 2 next to it. Wish i new how to show a screen shot. -
can everyone with an m11x please check out the mafia 2 demo? you can download it in steam.
-
same problem i have the r2 and just downloaded it and i'm getting nothing.
-
Same here with the M11X R2 !
Also got probs with bfbc2 -_- -
I have deleted the game and tried downloading it again. Everytime I Do this I notice the download pasuses a couple % in and I have to manually resume it which is kinda weird. I Have a feeling its just not Downloading properly could be wrong though I still havent got the game working
-
Same here! I have to resume the DL too! Hmm i can't undestand why they just let steam distribute the demo -_-
-
Same thing here.
-
help us! lol
-
Did anyone try and add it to the whitelist? because as i said earlier, when i do it shows up as "Tony Hawk:American Wasteland" but has the mafia 2 logo next to it. Maybe it is just a faulty download. Could someone else try to add it and see what happens?
C: Drive>>Program files(x86)>>Steam>>Steam Apps>>Common>>Mafia2 public demo>>Launcher -
Adding it to the white list didn't help me and every time I click the, "Check the credibility of the files" it keeps downloading a 20mb file.
-
Seems to be working fine here R1, guessing this is a R2 issue?
-
Yep works fine on my R1
-
Just throwing this out there. Is anyone forcing Optimus to run all applications on the Nvidia card? (instead of putting it on the whiteboard)
-
yes i am. still doesnt work
-
it starts though if i start the game .exe with the onboard graphics... but then kicks me out of the game after a blackscreen
-
Ah Nvidia Needs to come out with an ultimate driver to fix the punkbuster issue and this lol.
-
problem with mafia 2
edit
videoconfig in folder
C:\Users\jirka\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia II\Saves
change jirka to your account
change 1 to 0 -
thanks for the info it works
-
Sorry I am a noob at this.
What do I open the videoconfig file with? Also if I open it with something like the notepad I get this:
0 0 1366 768 1 0 0 1 -
ya open it with note pad and change the 0's. The only problem is I can play it in windowed mode. Does anyone no how to change it to full screen??
-
ok so it looks like this?
1 1 1366 768 1 1 1 1 -
No sorry other way around its change the "1's" to zeros lol my bad!
-
lol yeah the 1s made my cursor as big as the entire screen. The game runs great though...looks better than the 360 version.
-
works fine on R1
-
What setting is everyone running this game on?
-
I can't play Mafia II on the Nvidia cart (m11x), only on the Intel HD
.
-
were do i find the folder?
-
Mafia II Demo 10 Minute gameplay limit bypass - IGN Boards
go to this link if you want to bypass the 10 min limit of the demo and play for as long as you want. -
I just hit the windows key (the key between FN amd ALT on your keyboard) and R and it pulls up the Run command and I just entered C:\Users\jirka\AppData\Local\2K Games\Mafia II\Saves but change jirka to your user name open videoconfig in note pad and change 1's to 0's. Only problem I'm having is the game is playing in windowed mode and isnt switching to full screen.
-
Nope. I don't have that in any file.
-
are you sure? Try it by going to your (c: folder and above on the address bar just paste this line but with your username instead of "jirka"...it should work.
-
still don't work, is this for the demo?
-
yeah the demo from Steam.
-
Got it from steam, but I don't have that file
-
found the appdata but it 100% empty
-
After appdata type in "\Local" in the address bar.
-
Hit start and search %appdata% click roaming. then on the top, move back to appdata, click local 2k games, etc. then change the 1 to 0
-
Thanks for the help getting Mafia II working but I want to know if anyone else has dirty big writing in the top left corner - PHYSX > GPU.? My game also stays in a weird half windowed mode, would anyone be able to help me out?
-
yeah i just got that...it was fine before but when I updated to the Nvidia 259 drivers, it came on.
here is a screen I took:
-
outspaced suggested this and it got rid of the PHYSX > GPU in the top left corner. Mine still plays in windowed mode though...
-
yeah I can't change to fullscreen either. BTW what settings are you playing on and how many avg fps are you getting?
-
Man I don't seem to be getting as good figures as some other people. I'm using the 258.96 drivers but when I run the in game benchmark on low settings I get an average of 12fps and on medium I get about 15fps! What is with this?
EDIT: Tried the benchmark again with Custom settings, everything set as high as it could go and got an average of 9fps. Something has to be wrong! -
Yeah that's pretty low. Did you overclock the cpu? Mine is OCed to 164 and with the Nvidia 259.22 drivers...I am getting about 24-27 avg fps on medium (with geometry details on high).
Anyone having this problem with mafia 2 demo?
