    Hello ,

As many people know, we don't have any update on our M11XR1 for years. The performance gap between the last version and the new one is HUGE ( and some games don't run at all cause they need the new driver )

Yes, people tried to mod the drivers, but it's still not perfect ( sorry guys , there's no perfect switchable , Optimus is just a workaroud that still draws much battery power )

So , the idea was launch : The bios had two options : Switchable ( with both card activated, and disable by drivers) and Discrete ( only 335M is activated )

Would it be possible for someone to , somehow , " hack " the bios to have a new option that will ONLY activate the the integrated graphic ? So we could make two HD partition , one with 335 drivers and one with integrated , so there would be a " windows high perf " , and a " windows battery saving ".

I don't know how it could be possible, all i know is that bios is just a software , and some alienware high end laptop had different bios to tweak several thing. If that would be possible , it could be awesome.

    Thanks ;)

When I had an R1 I used this guys Bios mod: Alienware M11x R1 BIOS

It had a ton of options, but I cant remember specifically if it had the one you are looking for. Give it a try, just remember to back up your old bios.

You would need a BIOS to partition launch link to make this smooth... not gonna happen. Otherwise even if possible, there will be extra hassle when you launch the wrong partition after selecting mode from BIOS menu.

In the end I'm curious about the gains. Would it be a lot? Would it be messy or with errors? There are enough goofy issues with drivers etc when using official solutions so it might only work on a few.

I really don't get what you say GNandGS ... so i'm not sure if i was well understood.

The only thing i'd like to have is an option to disable the 335M just like there's an option to disable the Intel HD.

After, i just install windows twice with a boot menu , nothing to do with bios. Sure , i shouldn't make a mistake when selecting one OS with the wrong bios option cause that would mess up windows, but even if i don't know at all how to mod a bios , it should'nt be " that " hard to shutdown one device and just put a little tick " GT 335 ON |YES / NO " ?

someone to driver mod the intel graphics to complety disable the nvidia [again, beeing installed doesn't affect if it isn't running - when bios is set to switchable the intel is on so the Intel drivers runs which means nvidia disabled - when bios is set to discrete... well, that part is already solved by Alienware Bios]
    OR
someone to bios mod for replacing switchable to integrated which result having Graphics: Integrated/Discrete [no need to have 2 windows because Windows 7 can manage the drivers - it's quite a difference beeing installed and running - service won't start, so no... there's no need to have dual boot]

the final thought is: bios mod [better, permanent and works with official drivers] or intel driver mod [to disable nvidia complety when using switchable]
