When I first got the M11x, I noticed some bubbles on the part above the Wi-Fi / Caps Lock indicator lights, so I tried to smooth them out and eventually ended up putting little marks in it, and I couldn't get them out without making it worse, so I just gave up on it. Then today I was checking the battery light thing on the bottom, and as I was kind of rubbing it trying to press the button and then I noticed there was a plastic sheet thing that was covering it that started to come off, so I peeled it off. This convinced me that the other part with the bubbles was actually just a plastic sheet covering it. So I started picking at it from the edge, and what do you know, it's also a plastic sheet, so I peeled both of them off, on both sides of the power button / alien head, it looks much better, a little more glossy, but now the scratches are gone. I'm just wondering, were these supposed to stay on, I mean they weren't very noticeable they were stuck on pretty good, or are they meant for us to peel off when we get it?

Yes they are supposed to come off, they are their for protection before you get it.

Oh my god, you took them OFF??!?! YOU RUINED IT!!!

No, j/k. you're supposed to take them off. They are there to protect the glossy finish from scratches during manufacturing, packaging, and transport. Once you get your laptop, you're fine taking them off.

Consider them free protectors.... I plan on leaving my screen protector on until I know for a fact that NO keyboard markings are being left on it. If they are I'm gonna order a matte screen protector

It's like buying a leather couch and leaving the plastic bag on it!

eegh. one of my relatives had that tackiness. I felt like I was always going to slide off the couch and generate a huge mount of electricity in the process!
