I've had about 3 or 4 games where it won't crash, but it will crash 10-15 minutes in, in every other time. I know that BCCode: 116 seems to be video driver related; I have both war3.exe and frozenthrone.exes whitelisted in the nvidia control panel. I have also tried reinstalling drivers (using driver sweeper) to no avail; it just randomly gives me a BSOD. Is there something with this game that the m11x just does not like?

Does the Bluescreen have anything to do with nvlddmkm.sys?
If so what drivers are you using? The 270.61 started the problem for me and I couldn't get it away with just changing drivers. What I did was uninstall, reboot, clean (Sweeper and CCleaner), reboot and install. I did ALL of it in Safe mode to get away from issues such as UAC and such.
That worked for me (I also went to the 275.27 drivers when I did it.)
If that does not help post back, lets see if we can figure it out -
BSOD again just now with newest nvidia driver. I took all necessary precautions to install the drivers safely. (Even booted in safe mode to run driver sweeper)
This is the only game that has given me these crashes... so far.

Did you install the drivers in safe mode as well? If not try uninstalling, sweeping, and reinstalling all in safe mode and see if that fixes it. You might also want to try reinstalling the game if that is the only one you are experiencing the BSOD with.
Also, what are your temps looking like during play? What program do you use to monitor them? (If you don't have one, Throttlestop monitors temp very well as well as other programs such as HWmonitor) -
My temps are fine. I'll try reinstalling in safe mode. I have a feeling it's not going to make a difference though, as this is the only game that gives me problems. I'll try reinstalling the game as well. I'll return back with an update on my progress...

Please do, this is strange because I actually play Wc3 lan quite a bit with friends when we have time off and I have never seen a BSOD in it though I have suffered from the nvlddmkm.sys plague on other games.
However I have known desktops to give that error code during events from UAC stopping video driver installation (Video driver TDR failure to recover) to the video card being bad outright. I would assume that the video card is not bad in your case only because you have not had any visual issues like dots or lines on the screen correct?
Sorry if I seem like I am talking down to you, I am never quite sure how well versed someone is as far as computers go when I am talking to them on a forum -
I play WC3 all the time, too, and I never get crashes, ever. Are you on R1 or R2, or what?
I'm running driver version 263.08. -
r2, and yes that is correct Xtrophy, no artifacting or heat related issues. This is the only game that gives me problems. I play Starcraft 2 often and experience no issues, along with games like Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike etc.
Running latest drivers. 275.33 -
I have not done this yet, but see if you can run it on the Intel video instead of the 335. See what happens when you do, if it crashes again then its something to do with the game and not your laptop software or hardware.
-
Reinstalled the driver after running Driver Sweeper in safe mode twice, even installed the driver in safe mode and the game still crashes with the same error. Can't think of anything else I can do besides performing a reformat on my ssd. Any other suggestions?
Also I did as you suggested and ran the game with the integrated video, and it did indeed function, albeit very poorly. -
Only other thing I can think of is to run it while at stock clocks (I'm assuming you have tried that since you don't sound like a noobie at working with laptops) If you have and you still get it then I had no idea what else it could be.
Is the game patched up all the way? I know that sounds weird but they did make quite a few changes in the game in the last patch since it allowed it to be played without the disc.
Other than different clock speeds or something I'm out of ideas, hopefully someone more versed in problems with W3 can come forward and help you. I can't recreate your issue so I don't know where to go to fix it myself, Sorry. -
I haven't done any over-clocking of any sort. And yes, the game is patched through battle.net. I'm going to reinstall the game and then see if that helps; then reformat if it doesn't. Thanks for the help thus far...

Sorry I can't be of more help, I hope the game reinstall helps and fixes the problem.

could be a windows 7 problem, try compatibility mode. also, try turning off anti virus while playing and update to the latest nvidia drivers.
(i dont use anti-virus) -
I don't use anti virus either. Turns out the issue was rectified with a re-installation of the game files. What a teeth grinding problem with such a simple solution. Thanks for everyone's help.
