Earlier today, I accidentally hit the FN+F2 button (battery button) while trying to disable wireless. Now, when I unplug my charger, the whole computer shuts off and will not turn back on until I plug it back in. I've tried hitting FN+F2 again, but the battery still refuses to take over when the charger is unplugged. Windows says the battery is 100% charged so it shouldn't be an empty battery

Do I have a dud mobo? It dies when I unplug the adapter while in the BIOS also..

In the generic M11x build the Fn+F2 displayed only the battery status and did nothing else.

You've not installed Dells battery management application linked to Fn+F2

What does the battery status lights show when pressed on the base of the M11x?

Have you successfully used the battery as primary power source in the past with success?

Heard of a NBR member re-flashing his BIOS to restore his system/battery BUT that was after a coffee spill.

Unplugged/remove the battery and do a full power drain by holding the power button down for 60 seconds. Reconnect the battery and see what happens.

If AND ONLY IF you feel really brave you could re-flash the BIOS.
But I'd wait for a few more comments by other NBR members before getting that drastic, maybe even give Dell a call and get their thoughts.

I know it's too easy, but you're still under warranty. :D

Fn+F2 only shows you the current charge level of the battery. It doesn't enable/disable charging. I'm not sure how that could have caused any problems.

Having said that, I was the one who had a recent unfortunate incident with coffee. After teardown and cleanup, my system was showing the battery had zero capacity, zero charge and was in a "charging" state. That's almost what you're describing.

Long story short I did the power drain (thinking that would help) and then re-flashed my BIOS to A03.

Goodvibes is right. Call Dell and see if they have anything better to try out. If not then ask them about re-flashing the BIOS. Let us know how it goes.

No doubt. I've never spilled anything on any of my laptops until my M11x. Twice!
