So the SDD being included in the refresh of this laptop is still unknow, but why don't we make a list of the best SDD we can find at $500-$600 that is what dell is asking for this upgrade.
I found this:
OCZ Vertex 2 100GB MLC OCZSSD2-2VTX100G for $400
# Max Read: up to 285MB/s
# Max Write: up to 275MB/s
# Sustained Write: up to 250MB/s
# Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 50,000 IOPS
OCZ Agility Series 250GB for $540
# Max Read: up to 230MB/s
# Max Write: up to 135MB/s
# Indilinx Barefoot controller and MLC NAND flash for maximum performance
# 64MB DRAM cache for stutter-free performance
# Support Garbage Collection (GC) and TRIM (Windows7)
# No moving parts for increased durability over standard hard disk drives
# Decreased power usage for cool and quiet operation and increased laptop battery life
# 1.5 Million Hours Life Expectancy (MTBF)
# 1500G Sock Resistant
# Lightweight 77g
# Seek Time < 0.1ms
# User upgradeable firmware
OCZ Vertex Series 250GB OCZSSD2-1VTX250G for $560
# Read: Up to 250 MB/s
# Write: Up to 160 MB/s

That is the best I can find, if you know a better one let me know and I will add a poll after I have a list of a couple of good SDD's.

SSD in the release is going to be the Samsung drive. The samsung will have similiar numbers for seq read/write, but where the Intel drives really shine are the random read/writes. I'd be interestined in seeing the OCZ's numbers in the 4k read/writes.

How does the Samsung drive compares to the other sdd out there? Apart for the Intel SDD.

I posted this in another thread, but here it is.
Here are the numbers in my M11x R1 with the 256 GB Samsung SSD. Obviously there is going to be some variation, but this is a general idea. I bench the drive from time to time. This should give you a ball park range. Now they won't perform like an intel, but in my eyes, they beat any HDD, and they offer more space for less money per GB.
