Ok so, I got the game blur as a gift but my laptop wont run it as it requires 3.4 Ghz. Its just a little slow though so Im wondering what I could do to push it over the brink. My drivers are all up to date and my proc is overclocked at 1.73Ghz through the BIOS option. Any suggestion

EDIT: Can I upgrade the processor btw?

What settings are you running at? If everything is at High, try lowering them a bit until you find a happy medium. Honestly, I don't mind lowering all of my settings to get better frames/playability, but it really depends on the person playing.

To answer the other question, no you cannot upgrade the CPU.

I just looked it up. The "Recommended" (empasis on **Recommended) processor is Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz. The minimum will be lower than that so i would not be at all concerned regarding running it on the m11x it'll run fine. If you are having issues tune the settings down slightly (as GiSS suggests) and you will be running perfectly.
I generally find a lot of system specifications to be totally inaccurate unless theres a severe difference in the specifications in comparison to what you have then there wont be an issue. Dont forget that a Dual-Core processor cannot be compared with a single core as the dual-cores are newer technology and generally a lot more efficient per clock than any single core was. Besides that fact 1.73ghz*2 = 3.46 which is higher than your 3.4ghz minimum!

Sorry for a silly question, but assuming discrete graphics is enabled on M11x?
And some times have power setting on high helps too.
Just dotting the i's as I'm sure you're aware of this.

To be fair 25 fps is perfectly playable. It's only if it gets down below 20 fps that the game would become unplayable. After all the human eye for the best part stops seeing the difference at around 25fps anyway.

I played it briefly yesterday and it played pretty flawlessly on mine. Not sure what the settings were but I didn't change them. I always use Game Booster too. Not sure if I prefere it to Split Second, though I like the fact that it's like Mario Kart in real cars!!

25FPS is playable, but I guarantee you that the human eye can see the difference between 25FPS and 60FPS. even only 40FPS bothers me, and whenever I show someone a game running at full 60FPS, I always get the comments "woah, that's so fluid!".

23.97fps is basically the lowest playable (same frame rate as films). Anything below that will look choppy. Also, like elkay said, you can see a big difference between 25FPS and 60FPS.

ok well I dont know what the FPS is but I can say that it is too slow to play normally. And why is it slow on a gateway 7805u??? That makes no sense XD!
