Well, since nobody here seems to be tech savvy, I'll take my question elsewhere and I'll post the results if I still get no one to help me to better this community.

    Thanks.

    And Merry Christmas all. :D

You the man then. AFAIK BT doesn't use any wires.

This has nothing to do with being tech savvy but more to do with nobody buying that particular component then installing in an Alienware M11x then coming here to share.

You already purchased the damn thing and since you are likely the only one to buy one and therefore "tech savvy" please do stop by and let us know how it goes. Oddly, the way you write it, there are no plans to install the part you purchased until someone else tries it first? Then ONLY if someone can give some feedback do you try it yourself and let us know the results? How about you just try the thing and tell us anyway.

Actually in thinking about it... don't bother.

Yeah man, that's the plan to try it myself and post it here so if anyone else googles it then they can have answer. Sorry if it sounds like I'm ripping on the forums, I'm not and I wasn't sure if this forum was populated with people who know what they are doing.

I did buy it because I am 99.9% sure it'll work because the Interface is PCIe like the original wifi card, and I even opened the computer and checked, and it's the same car slot, PCIe, and same pins and shape on the card. So I know it's compatible, I just don't know If the alienware can support dual bluetooth and wifi, because natively the bluetooth is it's own separate module on the keyboard side of the motherboard, so it's impossible to get to without taking the whole laptop apart.

I'll be the test subject though, and I'll let you know.

Thanks and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.

I'm using the Intel 6230 in my R1 and it works fine. No reason yours shouldn't work too. Bluetooth doesn't use wires only WiFi does.

    didn't know 6230 intel was a wifi+bluetooth... now i do i guess.

Anyways no reason for it not to work as long as you got the right drivers.

Will not void warranty, just if you need to send it back for repairs, put back the original part.

Mine came with internal bluetooth module stuck on the motherboard so i wouldn't ever need that. Though i would recommend getting the intel one of some mid-high spec one, cause the no name ones most of the time aren't great... i had a few broadcom branded wifi cards, they work fine no problems, but aren't anything special either (for instance i love re beaming my wifi over my laptop to my phone, cause phone's antenna can't get signal while m11x has full bars.)

Thanks for the info. I'm 100% sure it'll work, but I know some laptops are very picky and require certain hardware to work. But I'm certain it will.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It shipped today and will get here between the 12/18/11 and the 1/4/12. I'll leave feedback.

I just bought a new Wifi Bluetooth Combo card off of ebay for my Alienware m11x. The Wifi works, and the Bluetooth onboard the card is detected.

It shows up in deviced manager and it's in my m11x working, the problem is when I try to connect devices, the devices cannot be detected.

Is there anything I should download?

Thanks in advanced. I'll give rep.

EDIT: I did use to have a bluetooth dongle in the laptop via usb.

LOL well it does detect it, and all drivers installed.

BAD PART IS the bluetooth will not discover my mouse, Or my iphone. So I think there is compatibility issues. I'll post more if I fix this.

Well, I took it to a restaurant and I was toying around with it, and I picked up other peoples bluetooth phones to connect to. Then my iphone was connected as well. I shut it down, and when I got home it couldn't discover my phone, but in bluetooth devices I was able to connect to it no problem.

I think the mouse isn't working with it. Any solutions?

OK I GOT THE MOUSE WORKING. Didn't reset the mouse to make it discoverable.

Hopefully if you have questions about this, you read this and it may fix it.

If not, just download the Microsoft Fixit tool if you aren't tech savvy.
