I just bought my m11x and Ive seen unboxings where the battery is charged, mine wasn't and only works with the charger plugged in, what should I do?

I already tried FNC F2 and taking the battery out.

:( im already regretting buying this computer.

A bit obvious what you should do. Call Dell.

Another thing that's a bit obvious before you call dell is to try a power drain. There is one other option but it requires removing the bottom panel and unplugging the battery, let me know if the power drain doesn't work and if you're comfortable with removing the bottom panel to try the other idea.

I have removed the bottom already, I unplugged the battery and held the power button for around 15 secs. then assembled and no change.

Sure you already tried but if not, try another outlet. Also be sure the outlet AC cord is plugged firmly into the power brick.

If still having issues, contact AW Support. Don't 'regret' your purchase - sometimes things like this happen. Its frustrating, sure. Give Support a call and they will square you away.

^^^Batboy his charger is running fine, it's his battery having issues.

Another thing I had issues with both my m15x and m17x at some point with something similar to this. Do this as well:

    1-pull the bottom panel
2-turn on the computer with the a/c plugged in
3-once it's booted up and still turned on unplug the battery and leave it unplugged for about 30 seconds while holding the power indicator button on the battery only
4-plug the battery back in and see if it starts charging again

I had to do that with every battery I got with my m17x, let us know if that works.

Did you futz with the BIOS at all?

There is an option under Bios --> Advanced called "Charger Behavior". If it is Disabled, your laptop will not charge the battery (although it will still run off of AC).

Call AW Support - like I mentioned above, its frustrating to be sure but its not outside of impossible for this to happen. Probably just a dud batt. :(

Let us know how it works out. Sorry you ran into an issue. Tell support to Next Day Air the replacement batt to you - the laptop, especially the 11x, is no good without a battery. :(

Update: Ok so I read that sometimes Alienware computers think that the charger isnt from Dell, and they don't charge, so I unplugged the charger, turned the computer off, and hooked it back in, it now actually shows 1 light up bar :D so I hope I have solved the problem.

Well, my response to the info you received from the support agent is 'No'. Definitely call back if you find its still not charging. As far as I know, the 11x is not falling prey to the 'plugged in, not charging issue' - haven't encountered it on my 11xR1. *KNOCK ON WOOD*

That's something you can change in the bios, there should be a setting that says something along the lines of "incorrect adaptor warning"

Well I never got the warning, but it just always said 0% plugged in not charging, but now, its showing 1 light on when i check the indicator, I hope that means that it was just not recognizing the charger.

And yes I didn't agree with the techs answer either, but It doesn't bother me to wait a little while to prove him wrong.

I really think you got a bad battery, I'd just call and tell them you would like a new one as it's a brand new computer. The battery should work, not require this much work to get it work.

    Me neither. That is BS.

It sounds like the tech doesn't know the answer, so s/he just told you that to get you off the phone and make you someone else's problem.

Definitely call Alienware back and complain. Sounds like you need a battery replacement.

Check if the charger has the blue ring on, maybe the charger is damaged, but if it turns on with the A/C adapter and doesn't charges, is a quite obviously its the battery or the motherboard not passing the voltage maybe its damaged or something OR just the battery is dead. Can happen, batteries are just charged energetic cells... Can die easy by a short circuit or over voltage or anything like over usage or very hot heat around it. Just call them and tell them to replace the pc, or battery you have warranty right.

    10-12 hours? huhhhh?

No. Bad battery / ac/adapter. I'd want both replaced for good measure.
