Just for fun I was looking on eBay for parts to put together an M11x R2.

Surprisingly I found mostly all the parts for around $500.
    [Without screen + hard drive]

    -Bottom Piece
    -Palm rest
    -Motherboard [With CPU/GPU + Heatsink]
    -Ram
    -Keyboard
    -Battery

Looks pretty cool & fun haha

Actually you can, if you can buy the parts at resonable price:

    *r2 I7 680m motherboard w/heatsink = 235 (ebay)
    *bottom cover = 6.50 (ebay)
*bottom access panel = 65 (ebay)
*top and palmrest = 12 (ebay)
*speaker set = 40 (ebay - if the bottom access doesn't have one)
*hinge cover with power button = 25 (ebay)
*r2 keyboard = 40 (ebay - mostly have r1 type keyboard but only difference is the r2 doesn't have the gpu switch on F6 button, should be compatible)
    *battery = 200 (ebay - ouch  )
*monitor = 195-200 (ebay - depending on the r1 or r2 type and color, good *luck)
    *Wifi card = 20 (ebay - Intel 6200)
    *i/o sound board = 50 (ebay)
    -----total 888.50 - 903.50

*Ram = from any store or online website. Going cheap 20 - Amazon 4gb Sodimm 1333mhz
*Hard drive = if you already have one the better. Seagate Momentus 500gb XT 100
    ------Addtl 120

So total for you around $924 - $1024 bucks just to build one. Its better just to buy the whole thing yourself. Saves you more time and money. It would be cool if some laptop company sells their own type of laptop in pieces and you just build it yourself :)

just put in "alienware m11x motherboard", should bring up a lot of motherboard. You have to know the parts number on what you're looking for, but if you're looking for the r2 board, one should come up as I7 680m

So the moral of this story is: buy one with a coupon from Outlet, then part it out on eBay.
