Oddly after doing the Pin mod (cutting the pin on the ICS chip) with this laptop, I have a crackling sound and a bad electronic burning smell every time I plug the AC adapter into the laptop, any ideas of whats wrong with it?

by increasing the power usage of your laptop, you may not be using the correct power supply. your laptop is drawing to much power.

or the ac adaptor rating is ok but conincidently damaged.

    i reakon its the first

the pinmod doesnt do anything to the PC until you get into windows and enable it, theres no extra power draw even after that, its still running at .9v, I didnt do the 1.1v mod.

well after taking it apart and cleaning it out with electronic wash spray and double checking everything I dont seem to have the issue anymore...

Your AC adapter has fried out. Not sure you can get a new AC adapter from Dell due to you voiding your warranty by doing the pinmod. Buy an aftermarket AC adapter for the M11X somewhere.
