Even though the system requirements are not out yet, what are the possibilities of being able to play COD:Black Ops MP on the M11xR1?

    -OC SU7300
    -4GB RAM
    -7,200 HDD

Well, to look forward we can look back for a bit. The engine for both COD MW1 and COD MW2 both fly on my R1. I can overclock my GPU and max the game completely with 4xAA and it still fly's on my machine. Never dips below 35fps. Most of the time it stays in the 40s and 50s. I can even play it on my Sony Bravia, 46 lcd @ 1080p (instead of 720p) and it looks amazing. However at these settings I lower the AA to 2 for a little performance kick.

So to summarize, Speculation is that Black Ops will run fine on our boxes. Unless the engine is completely revamped, I see no reason otherwise.

    Any other thoughts?

Call of Duty: Black Ops will continue to use Unreal Engine 3 as its underlying game engine. It's a very popular engine for FPS games, because it makes games easily portable for both PC and consoles.

The M11x R1 and R2 both perform very well running UE3. So CoD: Black Ops will most likely run just fine for you. You can expect the same level of performance that you get with any other UE3 game (1366x768, max details, 45-60fps)

This makes me feel better as I was considering getting the PC version because of dedicated servers and whatnot. As long as I can play it at the native resolution I don't mind lowering other graphical options.

    What everyone else said.
The M11x ran MW2 and MW1 flawlessly, so we should have no worries about Black Ops

    Yes, you should be fine.

And you should ALWAYS play an FPS on the PC if you can. Mouse + keyboard is infinitely superior to a gamepad when it comes to control and accuracy.

I agree, and don't really want to start a debate here ... but younger kids who have grown up never gaming on a PC, combined with more and more games developed with a 'console first' feel to them, leads me to posit that this isn't the universal statement we older gamers could make even just a few years ago ... ;)

Black Ops uses a modified IW 4.0 engine (the same engine that powered Modern Warfare 2) so the m11x should run the game just fine.

Thank goodness. I love the COD games and Black Ops is on my list. Nothing like a little killing after a hard days work in engineering, lol.

You know, there was some discussion in another thread somewhere on here where microsoft did a study between console gamers and pc. They wanted to see, in a fair environment, whether the thumbsticks would have a chance against mouse and keyboard... The answer was a resounding NO. It wasn't even close. I wonder if this is why they make it tough to get a K+M setup on the 360 working without lag for FPS games?

"W-A-S-D", find out what it means to me... (now I got Aretha in my head)

I'm a huge proponent of this but I plugged in my wired 360 controller last night for the hell of it and Dead Space played so well...

Any thoughts about the m11x being able to handle the game after the system requirements have been released?

E6600/8600gt is what I am seeing, is this right?

    GPU will easily meet this.

E6600 is an older Conroe dual core (granddaddy of all Core 2 CPU), but is clocked at 2.4GHz...

I dunno. The R2 with TS+OC will certainly meet the requirements (along with the nehalem architecture they sport).

The R1 might just barely cut it. Though unless if Treyarch really pumped up the PC verison, or found a new way to utilize the xbox360cpu / ps3cpu, I doubt it's real world requirements will be much above Modern Warfare 2's... (which runs well on the R1).

Personally I am an original console gamer. I have been using the 360 controller for awhile and I love it.
But i tried it on Cod4 on PC = fail
It was just too sticky and glitchy. For console it is good because it was made for console.
PC should keep with keyboard and mouse. PC is also for more professional type gaming like MLG.
Console is more to just chill with friends imo :D

Some PC games just play better with a 360 controller; have you ever tried Resident Evil 4 with mouse support? Oh man, it's awful.

Call of duty does NOT use UT3 engine, it uses Id tech 3's source Code and was made into the IW engine. Which has been recycled to this date, much like Half life 2's Source engine.

Each were improved upon but essentially the same engine. It works but its still a recycled game being regurgitated by Activision as many times as our pockets can take it.

Anyways its still a good game just not worth 60$.

Like Steve said, the game will run like butter if it uses an optimized version of the IW engine. (Yes it uses IW engine but it might not be properly optimized)

If you all notice COD WAW was less optimized and actually runs worse on my m11x than MW 2. So hopefully Treyarch compiled a good build and not a port for its PC customers.
